Me and my partner booked this hotel for Christmas, paid £194 despite staying here before with no issues the TV didn’t work. I called the Receptionist and was told by one of the shift managers Ariket that there was nothing he could do apparently when it rains you can’t watch the TV I asked to speak to a higher manager and was fobbed off and was told he would say the same thing. When I went to confront him at Receptionist the same manager Ariket was laughing under his mask saying there’s nothing he can do and told me if I don’t like it I can find elsewhere to stay the customer service here is atrocious. Ended up booking a room at Ibis Styles Hagley Road with top notch service. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

Beware this is more like a motel, with room access from the outside rather than a hotel corridor rather like a 1970’s Butlins staff accommodation block. Checked in and checked out straightaway but was long enough to note that the walls are paper thin, window didn’t shut properly, door was also an issue. The hotel is close to a busy street, so it’s very noisy, I’ve stayed in airport hotels which were honestly quieter, I think the issue is the windows and the chalet style rooms. Heating is on full, even an additional portable radiator to cover up the drafty ill fitting window and door. Interior deco is dated, tired, and very depressing although a nice modern bathroom! Bedding in fair looked very clean as did the towels and bathroom but the whole feel was drab and depressing I understand it’s a two star and was literally a stop over whilst travelling through but the whole motel/chalets need a makeover and a paint inside and out, surely Ibis could have painted exterior whilst closed to the public during lockdown. Refund given but I had to haggle but nevertheless a refund was provided so that’s my one star. I did view website photos and missed the fact that it’s a motel set up however, our chalet was not like the photos, same deco to an extent but a whole different feel and it’s not obvious how low budget it really is. Many visitors probably have a good experience and staff are more than likely very nice but I had to judge on what I experienced with my room as it was there I would have been sleeping and not in the reception.

I'm afraid this is definitely not somewhere I'd stay by choice. Overall the vibe is creepy, the motel style external doors make you feel pretty vulnerable and I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable staying here alone. Any hotel with a black mattress raises suspicions and indeed, the stained carpets and marks on the headboard only served to solidify these. It felt seedy. On a positive note having barricaded the room door with furniture I slept very well aside from the radiator thermostat clicking regularly and road noise outside. I can't fault the staff either, all were very pleasant but yes, definitely won't be returning.

This isn't really a hotel, it's much more a motel which doesn't feel very safe, especially if arriving at night. The rooms were nice and modern inside and the bathroom was nice, although there was no soap. Once we turned the radiator on, it started banging and it kept banging all night but because it was so cold in the room we had to keep it on. The beds were comfy thankfully, but the sheets were only wrapped around the mattress topper and not the whole mattress which was weird. The staff were really nice and helpful though and made up for it to an extent.

Positives Continental breakfast Complementary wi-fi NEGATIVES Area the hotel is in is rundown Had to ask to be put in another room as our one was filthy Whole building and outside area really neglected Got charged an extra £21 the day after we left. After I questioned it they said I would here from Booking.com Today I heard from Booking.com and the hotel accused me and my partner of stealing the hairdryer & pillow. Believe me you wouldn’t want to steal from this hotel!! I took my own £300 Dyson hairdryer with me. So now I’m feeling absolutely terrible that anyone would even accuse me of such a thing. I used to be a host on Booking.com and I scored 10 for everything. Now I am wondering about the integrity of IBIS Hotels & Booking.com DO NOT BOOK!!!!
