I know it's cheap so I didn't expect much but on opening the room the panel heater was on the floor with the wall fixings hanging out of it. Then the TV had no remote and none of the buttons on it worked. We were straight off out to a gig so I reported these issues to reception on our... More

After staying in hundreds of hotels worldwide for business..... This is the worst. I am currently in a 12 night stay at the Paragon and unfortunately and stuck here for a further 4 nights. - nothing like the photos - maintenance work at 11pm down the corridor, banging on walls. - Mattress is so old you can feel every spring.... This place needs gutting and starting again. The mattress is just a sheet draped over metal springs. The floor has what looked like mice droppings and there was a woman earring next to my bed! There are also drunks hanging around outside the hotel so you feel a little uncomfortable just going outside let alone walking to the kebab shop... More

Awful Hotel, worst I have ever stayed in. Dirty carpets, paint peeling from Walls and Doors. Lights not working in room and broken bed in first room , constantly running shower with water running down walls and windows in second room. Third room freezing cold with no heating and a toilet that only flushed once a day !!. Hotel smelt... More

Uncomfortable bed, 2 singles joint into one and given single sized duvet. One half of the bed was ok, the other half was like laying on stone paving. Lighting in the room was poor, there were toilets and tv's left outside the rooms as refurb is happening (drilling can be heard all hours), the hotel condition is extremely poor -... More

Even in the dark you could see how dirty the walls where. We got a refurbed room but toilet was broken, shower door broken, towel rail broken, walls where dirty, the... More

The matress springs were all broken so any movement and the bed would sqeak. The staff were unhelpful.PLEASE do not attempt to buy breakfast!!! Theres only one lady that... More

Having seen the reviews we were nervous about arriving but we were pleasantly surprised! The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Don't listen to the reviews! If you are after a budget hotel right in the centre of Birmingham then you've found it! Don't expect standards of a Hilton, but it is not what... More

We booked a conference along with several colleagues accommodation. The whole place is tired and lacks investment. I felt sorry for the staff who were friendly and did a great job in spite of the facilities. Colleagues who stayed the night before couldn't believe their rooms - just horrendous. Stained walls, carpets and curtains. The shower was no more than... More

This hotel is pretty average, it looks quite grand from the outside but the rooms are basic and the beds not particularly comfortable. My room was a bit chilly but the bathroom was newly fitted, very clean and the shower was good. Lots of bad reviews here and when I arrived one guest was complaining about lights and heating not...
