Me and the better half decided to embark on this venue and give a try to someplace we often walk past. Wow. Phenomenal service through out. The service was slick and not intrusive the conservatory was buzzy so we opted to sit in a booth style at the side of the pub part. Drinks came prompt. We ordered a pit...

We have frequently stayed at The George and Dragon and have often used the restaurant before seeing a show/play at the Festival Theatre. We visited the restaurant last week and were very surprised that we were the only people in the restaurant. All became clear once we saw the menu which seems to have changed - and not for the...

Check-in excellent down hill from there..rooms small, and in need of decoration very warm rooms, back yard a mess, 07.30 awoken by builders shouting and banging, no warning from reception on day of booking in, still charged full price, breakfast no juice empty container, only enough for one coffee, breakfast reheated, staff made no attempt to refill containers or check...

Having booked 7 rooms last weekend while attending a family wedding nearby, we found the attitude of the staff to be very offhand & unhelpful apart from the waitress who singlehandedly served dinner for 18 in the restaurant. We chose the George &Dragon as a more personalised local alternative to the premier inn etc but were very disappointed by the...

I have chosen to respond to your review as I do not think it is a fair reflection of the day in question. That day you fail to explain in your review. I sorry to hear you feel you had a disappointed experience. I was in on the day in question. We serve lunch from 12 to 3pm at 3.05pm...

The George and Dragon is a great pub for a drink in the summer in the garden but now that is just about it. Having given the food there SO MANY chances, this past Sunday it failed yet again and I simply won't eat there again. We booked for 14 of us - table setting was poor and left 3...

Popped in on a dismal Sunday afternoon. Great welcome to us and the dog. Decided to have a spot of late lunch. Home made tacos are a must and the curry was delicious. Our service was spot on and they even bought a bowl of water for the dog. Pub was quiet but steady with customers popping in and out...

We have stayed here twice now in the converted barns out of the back of the pub. They are cosy rooms that have everything you need for one or 2 nights stay. Perfect location in the city centre. Breakfast is excellent and a good choice. Lovely fire place in the pub if you don't go exploring the beautiful city. Only...

Thought we would pop in for a quick lunch after visiting the Christmas Market. We decided to have the Sausage & Mash which was a great disappointment as the sausages were hard and dry and the mash tasted as though it was out of a packet. Would not visit again.

This place is like 'the curate's egg' - good and bad. We were greeted very pleasantly by the staff but once in the room found that, although the sink and bath were very clean, the toilet did not seem to have been touched. Not a good start having to clean up after the previous occupant - yuk! (Although why people...
