I attended a friends wedding reception here in mid August. Despite a load of slightly tipsy wedding guests turning up after the wedding the staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly! Had a great evening that went on till late! Recommend just for a quiet drink or for a special event! Nice atmosphere and a building with character.

With all its charm and character, the Chapter House is a great venue for a group of friends to get together, and what a better reason than a wedding. A fun weekend was had by all. Thank you for sharing your experience! More

Quaint, historic and interesting accommodation - mind the rickety stairs, it's not the beer they really are slanting! Wonderful stay over a weekend in August in the heart of beautiful Salisbury. Friendly, helpful staff. Good food. We'd definitely stay again.

The rickety stairs add extra charm! (And give an excuse to enjoy another fine ale!) We are well situated in the heart if the city centre and directly across from the magnificent Cathedral. Thank you for sharing your experience and we look forward to your next visit. More

We stayed here for 3 nights earlier this month and were very well looked after by all the staff. Each room is unique. Yes, the staircase is a bit wonky and in some of the rooms you have to watch out for the beams, but that is all part of the charm of this ancient building. The bed was very... More

Just returned from the End of the Road festival (which was brilliant) and we had the pleasure of staying at the Chapter House. Our room was excellent, large, quirky and comfortable, tea and coffee facilities were plentiful and the English breakfast was perfect and set us up for the day. A special mention goes out to the management team (Gill... More

Nearly did not book after reading bad reviews, and then I realised they were all at least a year old when hotel was under different ownership. Really glad I checked it out thoroughly. Surely Trip Advisor should remove out of date reviews. Anyway to get to the point, a truly great place to stay (not necessarly the cheapest). Staff were... More

Not cheap but our steaks were excellent. The service hit just the right tone - friendly, thoughtful and responsive without being too in your face all the time. Lovely atmosphere with plenty of other diners even on a Wednesday evening.

We booked for 1 night and arrived early where staff were happy to store our luggage until we could check in and helped us with, parking. Fantastic location, very close to the Cathedral and town. We had a very pleasant overnight stay in this old coaching inn en route to Devon. The hotel is well situated, right opposite an entrance to the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. Quirky and old does not make up for dirty and in dire need of renovation. Dust was awful, no bulb in lamp, bathroom so small that towels were stacked in living room. The Chapter House is an 800 year old building, that is gorgeously quirky. You had booked online one of our executive rooms, these are clearly advertised as king sized beds. Should you have bought to my attention on check in that you wished for twin beds, we would have done our best to provide. The Chapter House is in the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the heart of historic Salisbury, The Chapter House comprises a cosy steakhouse restaurant, friendly pub and 17 comfortable letting rooms. It lies within easy reach of some of Southern England's most important landmarks. The stone for the Salisbury Cathedral, a mere five minute walk away, was cut in what is now the restaurant, making the hotel's initial construction almost 800 years old. Some of the original stone and ironwork is still left exposed inside the property. The 17 boutique en-suite rooms are all unique and quirky, some with original panelling and fireplaces and all with fluffy goose down duvets, Egyptian cotton linen, luxurious H2K toiletries and flatscreen TVs. The Chapter House boasts a bustling restaurant and grillhouse where flame grilled steaks, a la carte dining and hearty pub food are served in an ambient environment. The perfect base when visiting Wiltshire's historic sites, The Chapter House is also an ideal stop over en route to the coast or as a home-from-home option when on a business trip. ... more   less
