We stayed in the train carriage from 12th-14th April with our little dog. It was absolutely lovely, perfect surroundings and had everything that you need there...could not fault it at all. Emma was lovley and welcoming when we arrived. We had a tiny bit of rain on the first night which did not phase us at all, the cabin was so cosy and warm with the log fire. So many things to do and see within driving distance. Overall a fabulous trip☺️ Thanks Emma and Steve.

Lovely house with all the equipment and facilities you could need. Kitchen very well stocked. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. Library is great with masses of books. We were luck enough to BBQ outside as the weather was great. Short distance to Brecon. Only criticism is that some of the furniture is looking dated and worn and needs replacing, particularly in the conservatory and library. Having said that I would recommend, the cost was reasonable and we would return.

Hello, and thank you for your review. Really glad you enjoyed it and had good weather. You're right - and we will be replacing the worn furniture in the next couple of weeks now it's quieter after the summer. Hope to see you again. Emma

Have just returned from a perfect long weekend in Dan y Fan. House was fabulous and the welcome of bread and brownies was great after a longer than anticipated drive. The Christmas tree and fairy lights made it look magical and really set the scene for our family pre-christmas break. We were a big group aged from 10months through to mid 60s and all had a wonderful time in the house. I'm already plotting our return!

Our journey into Wales ended up a long and lovely narrow country lane to a house called Danyfan. Danyfan is full of edwardian character and space with guest bedroom facilities having a fresh feel and tastefuly updated.
Our reception on day 1 and then daily was lovely. Our hosts were extremely keen to please and be helpful.
Danyfan's location is ideal for those who just want a bit of peace and to see rolling / 'working' country side. And their garden, even as 'work in progress' was a treat. For those who prefer a rising countryside, there are ample and challenging ridges nearby to stride across and then return back late afternoon to Danyfan in time for some extra ordinary home cooking.
What began for us as an unknown journey, both in terms of location and as photo workshop students, turned into a delightful, lovely and rewarding experience with both our hosts, photo tutor and other guests.

Spent a restful week in the cottage which is cosy and adequately equipped but falls short of "Brecon Cottages" description.
Located down a long, narrow lane, access can be awkward and will probably give you some good reversing practice .
Brecon itself is a very pleasant town with friendly locals and lots of small, interesting shops.

We stayed in the carriage for 2 nights over a very sunny weekend in this beautiful, rustic setting. Emma had prepared a delicious lamb tagine, salad & rice for us upon arrival (£20), along with the complimentary treats of homemade (gluten free, as requested) brownies, bread (also gluten free), eggs, bacon, butter & milk (along with tea & coffee). In regard to cutlery & toiletries, everything you need is already here, making for an easy glamping experience.
The bed, bedsheets & pillows are gorgeous, as are the decor of the train carriage & surrounding Brecon Beacons. We came to practise some night photography & were not disappointed!
The carriage has space enough for 2, with a generous outdoor space & functional (hot water) outdoor shower & separate compost loo.
We also highly recommend Gurkha Corner Nepalese restaurant in Brecon & The Rhydospence Inn (Hereford) for a pit stop along the way!

We stayed for a weekend for my fathers 80th Birthday, we were blessed with good weather and spent the day on the four waterfalls walk, in the evening we took advantage of the barbeque and eat outside. The place itself is spacious and the facilities are good, though a little bit tired in places. Overall an enjoyable stay and I would thoroughly recommend.

My husbands 80th birthday stay at Danyfan with the children grandchildren and dog. Lovely house a bit remote unless you are really keen walkers you need a car to travel out. views from the house lovely.everything there you could want, clean, not cheap but for a special weekend it was worth it. if the weather had been bad plenty to do,tabletennis, pool, games and 100's of books.we had lovely weather, bbq on the patio.

We went on a cycling weekend to the Brecons and luckily stayed at Danyfan. The combination of gorgeous food, wood fires, great hosts, comfortable beds and above all stunning countryside makes this a very happy memory which hopefully will be repeated. The roads around Brecon are in much better condition than Surrey and I think there were no punctures at all. I was lucky enough to get the railway carriage at the top end of the garden: lovely little wood burner kept me toasty. Thank you so much to Emma and Steve for doing such a brilliant job. If your group is too big for the house (which holds 10 I think), then there other B&Bs close by to get the rest of the group in the same area.

Room Tip: Try the railway carriage. Even the choice of the books in the railway carriage was exquisite.

There were originally going to be nine of us staying but for various reasons thus was reduced to six, so plenty of room for us!
On arrival the house was nice and tidy but cold. There were firelighters, kindling and logs available for the two wood stoves, and we soon had roaring fires. Emma had proposed out to pick up the children but soon after her return she popped in with chocolate brownies and a hot, freshly baked loaf. Emma and Stevie were always on hand to deal with any issues, without being intrusive.
The house is nice and spacious, with plenty of options to take some 'quiet' time, including the library, first floor balcony overlooking Penyfan and the conservatory where you can play table tennis or snooker, though it was rather cold in there, being January! The lounge and kitchen/dining room were the main rooms for gathering, where we could keep an eye on the fires.
The bedrooms were all tastefully appointed. We had the master room overlooking the garden and an en suite bathroom. Two of the rooms share one bathroom but that was not an issue for us.
The kitchen has a six point cooker and double oven, but unfortunately the microwave stopped working on our first day.
The house is only two miles from Brecon but quite isolated up a country lane. On the one cloudless night the view if the night sky was stunning. Unfortunately it rained for most of our stay so we were unable to get into the spacious gardens.
The general view of our friends is that the house is slightly overpriced, but if you take up the full occupancy it obviously becomes more affordable.
