Detailed Reviews
Bar meal out for a drive in the Beacons . Driving towards Llandovery we stumbled upon this lovely coaching inn. Ordered a bar meal & drink the most delicious chips double cooked & huge chicken fillet burger hubby had the fish & chips which he said was delicious it looked it. Would be lovely with the roaring fire in winter to stay over. Picked up a brochure & dropped hint to the other half. Lovely clean inn for a night away. I will be back.

Property's Favourite Review
We spent a couple of days here with friends and had an excellent time. The staff were friendly and very helpful, the breakfast and dinner menus were excellent, and the whole place was a delight to stay at. The bedrooms and bathrooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Seemingly all recently refurbished with no expense spared - absolutely first class as far as we were concerned! The bar was well-stocked - some decent real ale on offer too. We would certainly stay here again.

We only stopped for Tea and Cake but we found the staff polite and attentive and the Inn looked fresh and newly decorated throughout - especially liked the lovely clean toilets! A big pot of tea and delicious cake, both great value. I think some of these photos must have been taken before the refurbishment as we didn't see any of these on our visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch after a morning exploring the Brecon Beacons. Generous portions, the roast beef was succulent, and the whole meal full of flavour especially the cauliflower cheese. Delicious. Thoroughly recommend!

We booked a table at this new refurbished Inn, to celebrate moving to the area 2 years ago. We have dropped in for a drink a few times, and are impressed by the decoration and the friendliness of the staff. Our meal was excellent - the belly pork melted in the mouth, and everything was surprisingly reasonably priced; for the standard of cuisine.

We took friends for a Sunday lunch here and we were treated to some very fine dining. We mostly had different choices so sampled each others and they were all absolutely amazing. The food here is of an exceptional standard and the staff are all so attentive we will definitely be returning very soon and will be recommending this hotel to friends and family.

I visited the Castle Coaching Inn last night, for the first time since it's refurbishment and I was very impressed. I went with friends who had already eaten there, and highly recommended it. The first thing one notices is the complete refurbishment. It has been done to a very high standard, and has resulted in a smart, tasteful and welcoming bar and restaurant area. The selection of beers and wines were excellent, and both were to served perfectly. The meal was absolutely superb, and we all enjoyed it greatly. Frankly ,it wouldn't have been out of place at a high end, city restaurant. I can only compliment the chef on a job well done. The staff were friendly, welcoming and courteous,as well a patient! (They had to wait quite a while for the 3 of us to get round to looking at the menus.) The prices are very reasonable, particularly given the quality of the establishment and the food. I congratulate the owners on a superb job of bringing this lovely old place back to life. Both my neighbours and I are looking forward to visiting again soon. Highly recommended.

Great to have our local pub and restaurant reopened and it is just getting better and better. New chef started this month and the food on this visit was excellent. Lots of fresh ingredients and loads of specials - so LOTS of choice. I had the fishcake starter that was massive (which made eating dessert a real effort 😊). Chicken main course with mash and creamy sauce was moist and delicious. The Rice pudding with mango special and the Banoffi pie (both made in-house) were superb. We'll be back soon!!

The Castle Coaching Inn is our local pub. It`s reopened and has been re furbished. My wife and I had our first sit down meal there with special friends and the quality of food was superb. The attention to detail and the attention we were given at the table by Julien and staff was amazing. The chef`s presentation was superb and everybody at our table was impressed with the entire experience. We applaud the staff for their professionalism and the high quality of hospitality. That was a very special night for many many reasons, but our evening in the hands of The Castle Coaching Inn staff was the cherry on the cake. Thankyou.

It appears that all the energy and attention at this Hostelry is directed to its ( hub, meaning the bar section!!! ) Whilst attempting to dine with two of my friends. It was quite evident this establishment was understaffed and emphasis given to the rowdy bar section!!
Subsequently, a long wait of just over one hour to receive what I would call a culinary disaster. There were only another three people in the restaurant area making the grand total of six. The wait to receive the meal was to say the least unacceptable!!!
The actual meal was slow cooked lamb and undistinguishable to taste!!! As it resembled the 'old fashioned corned beef' I have tasted famous 'Salt marsh Lamb' but to say the least the meals received were to another level being extremely Salty!!
P.s Don't partake the table drinking water as its evidently tap water full of chlorine, very nasty!!
