Scruffy, dirty, dated, no facilities, cronky old bed, old fashioned furniture, no Wi-fi, freezing cold, threadbare towels, hair on bedside table, dust Everywhere, dead spiders, alive spiders, No complimentary soap/shampoo etc, etc. Never been in a prison cell, but can imagine it's similar to my room.

We had a pleasant two night stay in the beacons and would go again. Yes it's a bit tired, and yes the double bed gave us a physical and metaphorical sagging feeling ... but sometimes none of that matters. The room layout for a family was great and the staff were really friendly. Location good. Breakfast good.

All rather cramped and tired; some eccentric decoration which might not appeal to many. Bedrooms small - generally gave the impression of having tried to squeeze as many rooms as possible into the available space. Breakfast was good and served promptly; 10 mins walk into the centre of Brecon for places to eat. At £69 for a double room B&B,...

There are many B&Bs in Brecon. This one has parking although I parked on the road. Some are more central in town but, hey, Brecon isn't that big. I found it easily as it is on one of the main roads into town. It is an old, historic building which makes it quaint and quirky with the spiral staircases and...

First impression was the old smell of the place. The bed springs were worn out and so the bed was very uncomfortable and on the second night we even tried putting the mattress on the floor which helped. Generally the bedroom was tired and in need of refurbishing. The shower was powerful and hot. The staff were helpful and the...

We stayed at the Brecon Guesthouse for 3 nights during a recent trip to Wales and enjoyed our stay. The guesthouse is a short walk from the centre of Brecon, the river, and some great restaurants. The room we had was comfortable and cosy, though a bit noisy (we could hear conversations from the room next door and whenever anyone...

My friends and I were pleased overall with The Beacons, which is conveniently located, easy to find and provides free parking. The rooms were very clean and had comfortable beds with nice quality linens and pillows. The decor was a bit tired. The wifi worked well in the lobby, but not in the rooms. Breakfast was ample and good,

We stayed at "The Beacons" B&B in Brecon for one night over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May as part of a 4 day Welsh break. We were greeted warmly by Carol and directed to the family room (Room #5) we'd booked online. Room 5 is located on the 3rd Floor and has one double bed and...

Location is good if you want to be near the centre of town. It was only about a five minute walk away. The car park at the back of the B and B was really useful too. We stayed in room two which was very spacious but a little tired. unfortunately as soon as you opened the door you were...

Excellent location and a warm welcome from the owners which is not always the case when you are with a group of 16 boys. Students and myself made to feel right at home and shown to our rooms. Rooms well equipped and comfy and a lovely breakfast the next morning (freshly cooked with a choice as well). Even got to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the 17th Century barns and cottages still remain. The front part of the building was added in the early 1700's and the house has changed little - apart from modern comforts and decor. The original spiral staircase, moulded ceilings and even the meat cellar (now a cosy bar) all add to the character and atmosphere of this lovely home. ... more   less
