Detailed Reviews
Family run guest house in attractive period property in a quiet location. We chose The Bothy, which is accomodation for two in the garden, with kitchen area and outside seating. It was a most pleasant setting and inside was well furnished with quality fittings and a most comfortable large bed. The microwave and fridge meant we could bring our own food and drink and enjoy an evening outside in the garden and later in the ooms. For an extensive breakfast list we chose berries and cereal, jogurt, juice and coffee and bread to toast in the toaster provided in the kitchen area. The breakfast was brought to us at the time requested and everything was fresh of good qualtiy and the portions most generous. Execellent friendly service . Covoid precautions observed throughout with sanitiser etc freely available. I will be visiting again shortly with my son and young family.

Absolutely great stay, the owners were very welcoming and helpful throughout our one night stay! My wife had been staying all week and normally as a coeliac, struggles with food, but this wasn’t the case and the owners went out of their way to accommodate her requirements, for which she thanks them very much! The room we stayed in was of a lovely size, with modern en-suite and although facing the main road was very quiet. Ample off road parking at the back is available, with a few off road bays at the front. The house is situated within walking distance of the shops, amenities and the head of the canal. If you wish to walk up Pen-y-fan, there is parking 2 miles away, that is away from the main tourist routes and would provide a good hike south to the summit. We spent Saturday walking the 4 waterfalls, which the owners provided advice for, which was very helpful! Overall a lovely stay and fully recommended!

The hosts David and Kathleen were excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area and suggested things for us to do to keep us all busy.
The accommodation is very nice clean tidy and finished to a high spec. A 2 minute walk into Brecon town, great location opposite a supermarket and there is parking at the rear of the B&B.
The breakfast was great and we were always offered more. Me and the Mrs were veggies David got us soya milk for our teas and coffees, just little bits like that going the extra mile was really appreciated. I've been going to Brecon for the past 9 years and I can say this is the best B&B we have stayed in.

This is a smashing place to stay and Brecon is a good base to explore from. Our room was lovely and warm (in chilly Feb weather) and cosy too. The spotless decor is good quality as well as being calm and easy on the eye. We had beautiful, elegant sash windows in our room looking out over the back garden across to the hill beyond.
As we were on a walking break, it was perfect to return to a hot shower and comfy bed each evening. (You can even leave hiking boots in a porch and ask to have them dried if necessary).
Lots of choice at breakfast, a generous meal that left us really fueled for the hilly hikes. The food was delicious. Proper fresh ingredients and lots of local fare which we appreciated.
David, the owner, is friendly, helpful and approachable which seems like obvious requirements of a host but not everyone makes you feel at ease so thank you David for going the extra mile.
The location is great, as is the free parking, and certainly our room was quiet. You can easily walk in and around town from the Grange. Brecon is a good little town, we had no trouble finding places to eat in the evening despite being February; or things to do (theatre, museum).
Would highly recommend The Grange to all :)

We stayed for 4 nights after one very wet night glamping. It was a last minute booking and The Grange could not of been more helpful. We had our 10yo son with us and stayed in the family room in the top floor. Very comfortable room and beds plus nice hot shower. Breakfast was excellent and fresh. Also we were at Bike Park Wales for two days and the jet wash at the park was broken. The owners very kindly let us use the garden hose to clean our bikes in the rear car park and even offered to securely store our bikes. The garden is lovely and the location is fabulous, easy walking distance to Brecon Town and some fabulous restaurants reccomended by the owner. We would highly recommend as a high quality place to stay if going to Bike Patk Wales as it's a lovely drive to BPW and Merthyr is not as nice as Brecon! We are returning in October

What a lovely place to stay. We had a large room you could swing a horse in and it was also a very clean and comfortable room. A big bonus is this property has its own free off street parking and the location is perfect as it’s an easy walk to anywhere in town. Our hosts Kathleen and David are such a lovely couple, as they went out of their way to make us feel both comfortable and most welcomed. Kathleen cooked up a delicious breakfast each morning and David was a pleasure to chat to over breakfast. Thank you David and Kathleen for having us at your beautiful guest house. Highly recommended! Ps thanks for the Vegemite 😊 Cheers Anne and Warren

+1
Stayed at The Grange Guest House for three nights while in Brecon for a wedding, and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
First of all the building is a beautiful house set just off the road, with ample private parking and less than two minute’s walk from the High Street itself, though you’d never believe you were so close.
For the moment I arrived the hosts were incredibly attentive, and there was a real feel that they wanted to look after you during your stay in any way they could. The rooms were spacious, very clean and tidy, and came with all the facilities you could possibly need/want, including small touches that make a huge difference like the availability of fresh milk kept in a fridge rather than the usual UHT option. Bed was very comfortable indeed with spare pillows available and good quality bedding.
Provided with a map of the town on arrival and plenty of tailored recommendations of places to visit and eat. Breakfast was pre-ordered by placing your options sheet in a box in the hallway by 8pm each night, there was a wide range of hot and cold options available, including fresh fruit, and all very high quality produce. You also got the feeling that if a sudden change of mind happened on the breakfast front it wouldn’t be a problem at all, such was the friendly and helpful nature of the hosts.
All in all a fantastic stay, and would definitely suggest anyone visit Brecon should place The Grange at the top of their accommodation list!

We both highly recommend this gem. Thank you to David & Kathleen for our wonderful stay last weekend. They both have high standards for their guests and are friendly, informative and attentive hosts.
Our bedroom was lovely. It was very comfortable & clean and had lovely touches, like a choice of pillows, extra blankets, books to read. The ensuite was spotless and had discreet instructions for how to use the shower - after struggling in other premises this was appreciated. A set of white towels and shampoo & conditioner was provided
Breakfasts are personalised and delicious, and we were well looked after with thoughtful attention and friendly banter. Parking facilities are safe. There are maps & leaflets available.
Brecon is just a short walk down the road, so all facilities are easily available. We had no plans to walk the hills on this January stay so we enjoyed the impressive Brecon museum, shops, art galleries, eating & drinking places. There is also a cinema and theatre. We saw a stag deer on our local drive by the mountain centre and enjoyed a stroll along the canal. It goes without saying that the countryside around is beautiful.
Many thanks.

Stayed at the Grange Guest House for one night whilst staying in the Brecon Beacons. The Guest House was perfect for us, and we would definitely stay again when next visiting Brecon. The room was a good size (we were in the family room on the top floor called Pen Y Fan), clean and had everything we needed - tea/coffee and a helpful information booklet. Parking at the rear is very easy and convenient. The hosts are very friendly and provided good recommendations for places to have dinner. The Clarence Inn next door is a good option (we had [planned to go to the Brecon Tap but it was closed).
Breakfast was quite simply fantastic and set us up for a long day's walking. We all had a cooked breakfast, and vegetarian options are provided, as well as fresh fruit and yoghurts.
The kids were even given a kitkat on the way out to help them with the walk up Pen Y Fan!

We stayed here for two nights as we were attending a wedding in Brecon, and we have already decided when we come back to Brecon we will stay here again!
David and Kathleen were both very welcoming, and lovely to chat to. Kathleen's breakfast was delicious both days we were there. David was really helpful and recommended places for us to visit, and the places he recommended did not disappoint!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There's also a selection of books to choose from and borrow in the hallway. The location is also great, right in the center of Brecon town so could walk everywhere within a few minutes. The private parking at the back of the property was also very handy!
Can't praise the inn or the owners enough and will hopefully stay there again when we visit Brecon next!
