We have just returned from a 2 night (and all too short) stay and cannot recommend highly enough. Our room was light and modern with high quality furnishing and decor, plus kettle, drinks etc. Very good ensuite shower room. The hosts, Jane and Nick, were lovely and made us feel very welcome. This is a working sheep farm, and to wake up to see frolicking lambs in the fields, with red kite above, is our idea of heaven. The B & B is very conveniently placed for exploring the area, which has something for everyone. Brecon is a lovely town, with some good restaurants, recommended by our hosts. Great area for walking, which we will certainly do the next time we book a stay! PS We loved Jane's terrier - a real character!

I'm not sure I want to write this review - only because to give this B&B the praise it deserves might make availability in the future for me more difficult! Simply put, the farmhouse is comfortable, the location is extremely beautiful and quiet, and the hosts are warm, hospitable and friendly. It's up some narrow and twisty lanes to be sure, but only 5 minutes drive from Brecon. When we were there, for 4 nights, the weather was warm and sunny, there were lambs in the fields, the breakfasts were everything you could wish for. We were wonderfully looked after and were very sorry to have to leave.

Herdman's was our first ever stay in a B&B and our expectations were exceeded! The peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing stay and the hostess could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Our only wish is that we had stayed longer, but we plan on returning soon. What a wonderful experience!

We are adding to the already impressive reviews of this wonderful, magical place. This delightful, 2 bedroom B&B, is set on a peaceful farm yet within easy reach of Brecon and great for climbers with Pen Y Fan sitting on the horizon. The owners, Janey and Nick are the perfect hosts. I could list all of the marvelous features and amenities but perhaps it is better to say we were left wanting for nothing. We had 5 lovely days here and were really sad to leave. With all the superb and completely justified reviews they are getting I expect they will be permanently booked out soon but we very much hope to squeeze in another stay next year.

Arriving at the B&B we were welcomed very kindly by the lady of the house. She showed us our spacious room in their newly renovated farmhouse. In the shared livingroom the woodburner was lit for us where we could enjoy a gin-tonic made with locally distilled gin. At breakfast we were offered a wide variety of dishes, including some local specialities. One of the evenings we brought our own food in for supper and the breakfast table was immediately turned into a private dinner table for us. We also had some lovely conversations with both owners and they very willingly helped us with planning our daytrips.
This B&B is a very lovely place to stay, has excellent service and excellent hygiene. The room wad offered at a more than fair price. This B&B I do recommend strongly.

We were looking for a B & B to stay while we travelled round visiting Welsh counties and spotted Herdmans had very good reviews so had to try. We arrived after traveling down the narrow lane to the B&B to be welcomed by Janie. Jane is a very friendly and chatty owner who showed us round the delightful house. We had a large bedroom with tea/coffee/chocolate making facilities along with chocolate biscuit for supper and as promised we had a grand view of the hills. Breakfast has many options (see photo) and the cheese & mushroom omelette is great. With her husband Nick they run a very clean and friendly (not forgetting 3 legged dog Pip) B & B. As we were travelling through a few Welsh counties the complimentary packed lunch was very welcome.
If we are in the area again we will definitely stay here.

- [ ] B&B landlady Janie and husband farmer Nick Herdman of Herdman’s B&B in the Brecon Beacons National Park, just outside Brecon in South Wales are the loveliest B&B owners I have ever met. They quite literally go out of their way to ensure you have the most comfortable and enjoyable stay on their working farm as possible. I turned up without a car and they happily dropped me off places in theirs: at the foot of Pen Y Fan mountain so I could walk up it; 10 miles up the canal so I could walk back; from the bus station in Brecon on arrival and into Merthyr Tydfil so I could catch my train on leaving. Their home made cooking for breakfast was to die for: endless choice for the most insatiable appetite and food lover, cooked to perfection. The most comfortable guest lounge with sofas and arm chairs. The most sumptuous bedrooms with chocolates left by the pillow daily. Arm chairs in bedrooms to relax in after a day spent in the beautiful countryside. And of course the most mesmerising views of the Brecon Beacons from the bedroom window. Thoroughly recommend this B&B and its owners without any hesitation. Impressive. Luxurious. Warm and friendly.

As many other reviewers have said, this is a wonderful, welcoming place where hosts Janie and Nick go out of their way to make you feel special. Super comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches, and scrupulously clean and beautifully maintained. Janie's breakfasts are delicious, and nothing is too much trouble ( including asking for our breakfast to be served one morning at 06.30!). An absolute gem of a place, well deserving of all its 5-star ratings. Many thanks Janie and Nick.

What an absolutely delightful stay at the Herdmans B&B with Janey & Nick!!

We’ve just arrived home from our New Years Eve/days stay & I couldn’t wait to rave about this fantastic place!

Having never stayed at a B&B before I was definitely looking forward & Janey definitely made our stay just wonderful!!! Apon arrival we had a lovely warm welcome from Janey, who made us feel right at home!! Give us a tour, chatted & then showed us to our room. The room was perfect! SO clean, warm & SO comfy! We had everything in our room we could of possibly needed. From tea/coffee/water to cotton buds/nail file & little treats! She’d thought of everything!! Bathroom was lovely & shower nice and hot!! There isn’t anything negative about the room!!!

Breakfast this morning was delicious & set us up for our lengthy walk to the waterfalls (definitely worth the visit) Janey had even provided us with a complimentary packed lunch! Which was so thoughtful of her!!

Over all I’d rate this B&B 10/10!!! If we’re ever back in Brecon we’ll be sure to stay! Oh, and they have the cutest little dog named Pip!!!!

Thank you for such a lovely stay!
Best wishes for 2018!!
Kimberley (booking under Daniel Bridge)

We were lucky enough to stay with Jane and Nick for four days in July. We booked the King room and boy was it fit for a king. So much space! Plus there was a sitting area and large dining area on the first floor to be used any time. Jane is an amazing cook -- even my non-breakfast eating husband ordered breakfast every single morning and was sad to leave knowing we weren't going to have Jane's breakfast anymore. Every day Jane (and sometimes Nick) chatted with us giving us recommendations for the day's activities. Jane even drove us up to the beginning of the trail to Pen Y Fan saving us parking for the day (she even offered to pack us a lunch each day). We've stayed in B&B's all over Europe, and Herdman's is definitely one of the best (if not the best!) B&B we've ever visited. I sure hope our travels bring us back to Brecon, because we'd love to stop and see Jane and Nick again. :)

Hi.Brecon town is 2 miles away along country roads. There are no buses from the farm. The bus services from Brecon to Cardiff,Abergavenny,Swansea,Hereford run regularly. The highest peak in the National Park is Pen-y-Fan it can be reached by foot from the farm at Cwm Gwdi and is approximately a 5 hour round trip. A car or bicycle is almost essential for getting around the Park.
