We loved it. Every staff member was so kind and courteous. The room was bigger than expected and clean. Breakfast was yummy. Great restaurants you can walk to. Highly recommend. I want to go back now just talking about it!
We would definitely book here again. The location is great and facilities good. Ample free parking and great staff. Will recommend this hotel. Also in a retail park so everything is close by and within walking distance.
Booked this hotel for Christmas lunch with an overnight stay. Was a little perplexed at the parking as there was nothing to indicate which was hotel parking & which was the nearby Miller & Carter, seems its anywhere on the footprint. There are signs indicating private property and you have to log your car in during check in, on entering my car reg, a still of my car driving onto the footprint was shown on screen. I would guess they enforce violations ensuring that guests have access to the free parking. Checked before confirming our booking that the bar would be available (we have stayed in other hotels only to find no bar service Christmas day evening!!). As expected lunch needed to be pre-ordered which wasn't a problem. Check in was swift and we were soon in a very decent double size room, plenty of hanging space and a nice en suite. We were asked to pre-book our breakfast and the time at hich we wished to eat and it was explained this would be a plated meal rather than a buffet style breakfast. Went down to the bar for pre lunch drinks (not in the cost of lunch) and there was no table service so queued at the bar. Masks were needed when not sitting and the hotel had actually emailled all guests informing them of current welsh Govt requirements. Eventually we made our way to our table, helpfully there was a table plan. All staff (less those with exemption lanyards) were masked. The food was acceptable given it is mass catering. There was no table service for drinks during lunch so it meant going to the bar which was quite busy at times. During lunch it was notable that some people had abandoned their mask and leaving the dining room & returning without their masks, to be fair I think it would have been difficult for staff to get compliance with this. After lunch retreated to the room to watch TV and have a shot snooze following lunch, the room was very peaceful despite being day time. WiFi (free) in the room was good in fact it was better than the bar area. Late afternoon we went to reception to ask for drinks (we had been warned the bar would be closed but drinks available via reception). It was a shock to find that according to the person staffing reception that only soft drinks were available. Despite telling the individual this is not what we had been informed there was no relating and he stood firm. Pointless getting into a heated debate with the individual as it was clear from his demenour that nothing was going to change his mind. Went back to the room and made do with the tea/coffee in the room and the bottled water. Breakfast the next day was good, piping hot but suspect it had been under a heater somewhere as everything was uniformally hot including the plate. Checked out and strangely said person from the evening prior did not ask if we had enjoyed our stay! On returning home, emailled the hotel and in the fullness of time received a response informing us that the member of staff had misinterpreted information regarding bar services and that a full service should have been available. A drink in the evening is always something we look forward to, signalling the end of Christmas day so this was an issue for us. No matter how good the deal, we would never stay where a bar service is unavailable. The hotel has offered a free upgrade to a King suite if we use the hotal again.…
We have always stayed at this hotel when we have come to Cardiff. Everything was brilliant as usual but the breakfast was a let down. We paid for bed and breakfast so you expect to be able to eat breakfast whilst you are there. It states on the website that a vegan breakfast is available and to order in advance if possible. I called the hotel a week before my booking to ask for a vegan breakfast, they said no need to order in advance and to order at check in. I did this and the man behind receptionist went to the restaurant straight away and came back and confirmed. The next morning I went down and said I’d ordered the vegan breakfast and the man said ok so you want gluten free bread. I explained not gluten free I’d ordered vegan. He went to the kitchen and said that the chef was doing me a vegetarian sausage, I thought ok perhaps it’s vegan aswell and then he gave me the allergen book to tell me what I could get from the buffet that was vegan. When reading this I noticed the vegetarian sausage contains milk. He then brought the sausage out and said am I sure I don’t want bacon or gluten free bread to go with it. At this point I left without having breakfast as I’d had enough. If it’s not available just please don’t advertise it and I’ll pay for room only.…
My partner and I came for a Christmas Winter Wonderland event and thought we’d make the most of it. Here’s the rating breakdown: Pro’s: * lovely big, spacious and airy room. * traffic noise wasn’t an issue as you could hardly hear it. * incredibly clean! * nice power shower * GREAT ON-SITE PARKING * free Wi-Fi * there’s a Miller&Carter literally across the way (highly recommended too!) Con’s: * the bed was incredibly comfortable, which resulted in us having lie-ins due to not wanting to move lol. (Obviously this isn’t a bad point - but we’re not used to a lie-in ☺️) So yes, we would highly recommend this hotel. The staff are lovely and its an all-round fantastic stay! Thank you for a lovely Christmas break! Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄
