Business trip. Can’t fault staff or hotel. Food great staff so helpful and all reasonably priced.. breakfast was one of the best I have had, all freshly cooked and plenty of it. All customer facing areas, bar reception etc have been recently upgraded, my room was little tired in some places but very clean.. definitely return if In Newport again.

Rooms were lovely, excellent food, staff were really helpful and friendly, so glad they enjoyed it too, being the first post lockdown. It must of been so relaxing for them not having to do room service for all your 300+ rooms.

After 18 months of lockdown, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect from a weekend away for a family wedding. As we arrived we were all greeted with a warm smile and told what to expect. We found the room quite comfortable for two nights away, and had everything we needed. We went to the bar to meet other family members, and whilst the table service took a little while (only because of how busy it was getting with the hotel being full) everything was handled in a jovial manner, which suited us. The morning if the wedding, the staff did a great job at trying to keep the parties together, made much easier by the lifting of many remaining restrictions… which ultimately allowed the wedding to go ahead almost as the happy couple would have wanted, albeit missing some of those who were still unable to travel from afar. The breakfast itself was great, set us up for the day, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. Fortunately for us, the wedding celebrations were to be held there in the evening too, and after a trip out to the church we were back in force… and the staff were more than helpful. The meal was very good, the long awaited dance floor was put to good use, and the bar staff worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy…. And we all were!! So much so that the team extended the hours and even joined in the celebrations themselves (they absolutely deserved it)! Needless to say, we all had a great night and the early jitters about staying away were completely erased… The morning after was soon upon us, but all the staff were back with the same friendly smiles, lots to chat about, and laughs aplenty. Cannot fault anything with our stay, and will no doubt be back again having had such a wonderful experience

Good points Hotel was lovely, bed was comfy, bathroom designed really well. Scrambled egg was nice. Bad points No plug sockets near bed. Not enough tea, coffee, milk in room for two people for over 12 hours. I was really looking forward to breakfast but it was a real let down. They crammed the food area into a corner so there was a permanent queue for everything and this was before 8am, instead of a proper hot food counter it was in these electric warming pots where the lid was a pain, the food was only just warm enough, the bacon was like dried out leather, the beans looked like they'd been kept warm for days and there were no mushrooms or tomatoes and NO MARMALADE what hotel doesn't have marmalade for goodness sake! My friend is vegetarian and so she ended up having the continental as scrambled egg and beans were all she could eat from the warm section. The amount of space they have in the lobby you could do something so much more user friendly.

Hollidays inns are just so dated. The bar and reception look good and then you walk down 30 year old faded carpets in to a delapadated room. Bathroom fresh from the 50's and the wiring is terrible. No sockets near the bed in fact I had to unplug the TV to use my laptop. Service is good but the room gets zero stars.
