My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night very recently at the very expensive price of £280 per night, (dinner not included) I was very underwhelmed on arrival to the room, for the price that we paid, the room wasn't very big and really nothing special that would warrant the hefty price tag, the lampshade was broken and almost...

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Boxing Night and the entire experience from start to finish was excellent. We were greeted warmly and professionally on arrival by the concierge and receptionist who were more than happy to assist with anything we desired. We had one of the Art Deco rooms, which was very well appointed with a lovely bed,...

It is a five star hotel and it delivers five star service. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. Wonderful meal in the fab Great Room. Enjoyed the whole thing. Only one tiny complaint - the bar does not do draught beers. I fancied a pint of Guinness. Apart from that, a very enjoyable stay - and...

This was my second stay at the Merchant- first time in winter- it's an amazing hotel with excellent facilities, service and staff. Great location - awesome bar across the road called the Spaniard- the hotel cocktail bar oozes class and the Cloth Ear is a top spot for a pint and lunch - the Ulster fry for breakfast is great...

Didn't actually stay in the hotel, but visited it. Will be sure to book it the next time I visit Belfast. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful without seeming false. The location couldn't be better for social / shopping purposes. Food and drink is excellent and relatively inexpensive.

There can simply be no comparison with other hotels in London - service exceptional from the moment we entered the hotel and Trevor was exacting in his description of our room and the hotel. Very high ceilings in the old Victorian side of the building married with great modern details. My wife and i typically frequent the best boutique hotels...

Great hotel in a great location. Very central for everything in Belfast and if you need to go a little out if the city - taxis area quite cheap. Friendly staff who have excellent local knowledge of the good bars and restaurants. Great cocktails too. Would go back to stay in future.

Deserves it's 5 stars but a bit corporatey and overly formal. Nice enough classic bedroom but the hotel was a confusing rabbit warren of corridors, the bar was pretty grand with a great drinks selection (apart from only small bottled beers) and the staff were a bit cold, polite but no interaction with the guests. Breakfast was so/so but hotel...

I treated my mum to Christmas afternoon tea for her 60th birthday. The food was of good quality and plentiful - I especially liked the variety of vegetarian sandwiches - and the Christmas blend tea was lovely. However, the experience was badly let down by the standard of service. We were shown in and promptly sat by the revolving doors,...

Our rooms were first class, they were in the Art Deco section, really nice. Bathrooms were great with fab showers, the rooms could not have been better. I expected the Merchant to be similar to the Shellbourne in Dublin , two old ladies, Queens of their Cities but I'm afraid , I feel the Shellbourne wins. I feel that the...
