This building was charming, with beautiful old floors and a large sitting room that was comfortable. Everything in our room looked worn, the bedcovers were very thin and not really clean looking. The garden view out the window was refreshing. The breakfast was a block and a half away from the Merchant house and it had a tiny dining area...

We were both surprised and disappointed at this review. We try hard to please our guests and would have been happy to deal with their complaints about bedcovers had they approached us. Additional bedcovers are available on request. However these guests never raised this issue with us during their two-night stay leading us to believe that they were content with...

The rooms were comfortable and the sitting room very once for a restful evening. The hosts were welcoming and answered all our questions, recommending the tour around the wall was a great tip. One of the drawbacks is the hunt for a parking spot if you arrive before 5pm and the ticketing agents seem to circle the block often. Breakfast...

Lovely room, beautifully furnished. Breakfast is served buffet-style in the dining room and was very good. There is a lovely sitting room upstairs, and a terrace and outside gardens. The wi-fi reception wasn't great in the room, but I found that to be true everywhere, and this B&B has a computer available for guests in an upstairs alcove. The host...

We booked this B&B based on very good review by Rick Steves. It was not as we expected. Noisy location if your room is on the street side as ours was. No parking provided by the B&B. Street parking only and not on the street on which the B&B is located. Rooms were OK but very dated. Ensure bathroom was...

We have spent 4 wonderful days at The Merchants House in Derry and will be sad to go home tomorrow. The house itself is beautiful - spotlessly clean and warm, friendly and welcoming staff. A plentiful breakfast awaits you each morning around a communal dining table between 8.00am and 9.30am with freshly prepared delicious food. As a family of 5...

Old World elegance with charming owners, Peter and Joan! Felt like we were back in the late 1800's staying in this beautiful home. Ground floor has a stunning dining room where we had delicious breakfast for our 2 night stay. Guests are served at a large communal table which made for lovely conversations. Second floor has an amazing drawing room...

The house is quite beautiful and nicely maintained. The dining and sitting rooms are lovely. They have wonderful high ceilings and trim. They are very comfortable and homey, with lots of European art and other decorations. The location is very convenient, all of the main sights are within easy walking distance.

Wonderfully decorated rooms that make you feel like you're staying in a family home. Very clean. Definitely the best breakfast that we had in all of the B and Bs we stayed in while in Ireland. They had muesli, fruit salad and yogurt, brown bread, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. It's a good location, only 5 minutes walk to the...

Peter and Joan Pyle came back to Derry after travelling around South America in the Seventies and decided to turn the mid-19th Century Saddler's House into a B&B which was much better than the anodyne hotels everywhere. They succeeded that with the even more grand Merchant's House, and both are inspired and empathetic restorations of great old houses, with happy...

This is a bed and breakfast in a 1865 year old building and all the rooms looked nice. The owners answered all our questions and were very accomodating. Breakfast was very good and we met some very nice guest while there. Very close walk to several restaurants and the "Walled City" and other interesting sites Well worth the stay

Thank Eric C
