Lovely welcome from Mario. The oaklands guesthouse was a modest guesthouse on the main road into Montrose. It had everything that we wanted. Was close the river & lovely pub for dinner. Would recommend.

Stayed one night at Oaklands during a recent business trip. This guesthouse is conveniently located for those persons visiting the Montrose port facility and also a short walk into Montrose itself. The accommodation is basic but comfortable. Can't comment too much on breakfast as I just had juice, bran flakes, tea and toast which was nice but I see from... More

Second time of staying at Oaklands and both times the owner Mario has been excellent. He is also the cook and serves up the biggest plateful of freshly prepared full Scottish breakfast or your choice off the menu for a smaller helping. I would highly recommend a stay at very reasonable rates. There is some off road car parking for... More

It is a while since I used a B & B and was pleasantly surprised with Oaklands Guesthouse. Older property which was freshly decorated and the rooms were clean. Varied breakfast menu with all items cooked to order. Owner Mario was very friendly and helpful.

I stayed at the Oaklands for one night on a business trip. I usually stay in a Premier Inn or a Holiday Inn but they are soulless places and usually overpriced. Don't expect glamour at The Oaklands but do expect a nice B&B and a nice host and a super delicious, hot, home cooked breakfast. Most Premier & Holiday Inn... More

We stayed at Oaklands in mid-July for a family gathering. The welcome from Mario who owns and runs the B&B was very good but also to the point, no uncomfortable lingering i have experienced in other B&Bs. He showed us the room, the 'sitting room' and how the door locks operated as some have deemed it tricky but to be... More

My partner and I stayed here for 1 night just for a change of scenery. Lovely atmosphere and a lovely host. We had the ground floor double room which was really handy after having a few drinks in town. The walk into town is only 10 minutes and view over the bridge is beautiful. We will definitely stay here again.... More

I stayed in this guesthouse for one night and it was very pleasant. The rooms and overall guesthouse was very very clean. The room was a decent size, and it was comfortable. It is very close to the town centre and beach. Breakfast was perfect. Would recommend this Guesthouse if staying in the area.

I stayed here for one night and will not be going back. Booked a double room but ended up in a twin room and got charged more. Confronted the owner but despite me having it in writing what i had booked and how much he was still denying it even though i had it in black and white. He even... More

My rates are clearly displayed upon entry and in e-mails. If you book a double room for double occupancy it's £30.00 pppn, or when you change your booking and want it as a single occupancy it's £40.00 a night. As the customer changed the booking for single occupancy before arrival, I changed the room into a twin for single occupancy.... More
