We called in The Horse and Hounds to ask about meal times. We were told the hours and realised that we would be unable to return from our planned morning in time for these hours. We were told that they were prepared to serve us food and drink later in the day when we would be able to arrive. We... More

We stayed recently on a Sunday night - bar was lively and locals and staff warm and welcome. Food was very good and reasonably priced as were the wines etc. Room spacious too and breakfast freshly cooked . Perhaps only downside that wifi , although strong in the public areas, was not accessible in the bedrooms. Owners have been there... More

This was a lovely wee Hotel Inn, where we were offered the choice of two rooms, but a nice Drive to Bonchester bridge, my wife and I found the Inn to be in good order, as it is still being refurbished, The food was very good and very affordable, yes wee would go back.

Nice room in a busy village pub, clearly popular with the local community. The manager, however, possessed neither the skills, knowledge or talent to run a hospitality business.... for example, arguing with customers over how a steak had been cooked, his wife muttering under her breath while clearing plates, being generally unable to recall the menu, prices or basic guest... Lovely country inn great location for peaceful walking break. Owners and staff very friendly and are doing good job bringing this place back to life. Liked the refurbished lounge dining area in particular. Had a really nice front bedroom though bit noisy at night as its above bar door but soon went quiet and no problem getting to sleep. Cant... We stayed here over night en-route. Couldn't have asked for more! We were so well looked after from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Absolutely will make this a stop over when in the area again.

Stayed one night on our way home from a few days in Scotland, even though the pub is being redecorated, everywhere was spotlessly clean, the food was yummy pub grub, the beds were comfy, we would highly recommend this lovely little pub.

The Horse and Hound is a lovely country inn. It's in a delightful location, and has lots of character. Currently being refurbished with a bright, comfortable lounge/dining room and traditional bar with original features. Breakfast was lovely and evening meals very nice. Drinks in the bar are reasonably priced. It's in a lovely scenic area of the Borders. Would love... More
