Basic menu but food of a high quality, we had the steak and ale pie, the meat was tender and tasty with a lovely puff pastry top. We asked if we could sit with a view of the Loch and they kindly opened the conservatory for us and had a great view with our lunch. We'll definitely be coming back...

Camped on my own & ate there in the evening. Publican friendly enough but camping facilities dreadful, so glad I only stayed one night. The loo block was just being built, which I was shown when I checked in, but it wasn't until the following morning that I realised there were no doors on the cubicles (this wasn't mentioned)! Overgrown...

Fantastic location but let down massively with the owner Alistair's unwelcoming and disinterested attitude. Breakfast was below average, served on cold plates and to top it off the orange juice was disgusting, cheap diluted rubbish. The hotel is not in good order, especially the bedroom (mould in shower room, growing mushrooms etc) in need of some serious TLC and looks...

Hiked 25 miles through the cold driving rain to St. Mary's Loch with the goal of relaxing here in relative comfort, but after putting up with manager 'Alistair's attitude for only a short while, we simply picked up our kit and kept on walking. Enough said I think.

Staff very unfriendly!! Waited an hour for tasteless microwaved food, my colleagues who traveled from North Wales was insulted by the chef because she didn't like the vegetarian option of butternut squash as didn't have the ingredients as described on the menu. The chief then used foul and abusive language then pushed my colleague and said he had tasted the...

We stayed for two nights over the weekend. Athough the atmosphere on arrival was good (scouts etc round campfires) and we found an atmospheric pitch by the lake away from the crowds, we made the unpleasant discovery of two dog poos within 3m from our tent. On mentioning this to the staff, although they listened they were not too bothered,...

If you are looking for a posh, 5-star hotel with a concierge and a manicured receptionist and heated towel racks, keep going. But if you are looking for a rustic, old-fashioned country inn with tons of character, lots of history and a drop-dead gorgeous setting, look no further. I stayed here with two friends while on our way to the...

We arrived after a twenty mile hike on a very wet and windy day along the Southern Upland Way. Our room was adequate, the beds were extremely soft and comfortable, the best on route. The en-suite shower room could do with an upgrade. The food was good and the residents lounge was homely. The staff were all friendly and helpful....

This could be so much better. Must have called a dozen times and nobody answers phone. Emails sent - no reply. This for a place that asks for dinner bookings to be made. Poor. Annoying. Turned up and was luck to get a table. Over priced rooms.

we stayed at this campsite for 2 nights. firstly let me say that the site has stunning views of St Mary's Loch and the surrounding mountains. Absolutely perfect location sadly the site is very very basic. The owner greeted us and was very nice. We were told we couldn't actually take our car onto the field to unload and were...
