Starting with the positives.......... There was plenty parking outside the hotel and right next to the train station. Rooms were adequate for the price paid and very clean although slightly outdated. Good water pressure from shower. Wifi was speedy enough and plenty channels on the freeview TV. Hostess tray was well stocked and replenished daily. Breakfast food was OK, nothing...

My wife and myself recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in March and chose to have it here. From the planning stage through to the evening itself we had the best support and advice from Aileen the owner. We pre-booked our meal for 30 guests and Aileen took care of our welcome drinks. We dined in the Pullman Room and...

This grand and attractive hotel was the base for our wedding anniversary and our stay was simply first class. The building retained much of its historical character while providing quality modern facilities. Our room was beautifully appointed and spacious. The dinner was excellent and all staff had a cheery and helpful attitude which created a warming and relaxed atmosphere. Both...

This is an amazing Hotel beautifully kept lovely spacious comfortable room. The food was excellent and the staff very polite and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. The Great Western is a very old hotel but beautiful and full of character. The owner is in the process of sympathetically restoring this beautiful building. Stayed here for two nights for a dear friend's wedding. Hotel was instantly beautiful, perfect balance maintained between the history of the building and modern functionality. Our room - 23 - was very generously proportioned with a massive comfortable bed and big sunny window. A clean, modern bathroom lies off a mini hallway within the room. Fab inclusive wifi, a...

An original railway company hotel, I stayed three nights here while attending the local Music Festival and was very pleased with the accommodation. The room was comfortable with a well maintained en suite shower room and although the décor throughout the hotel was a bit "tired" in places, it was clean, warm and had a very friendly and helpful staff....

The Hotel is in a good location with free parking. The room was clean with a comfy bed. The bathroom was clean & very modern with a nice big shower. The bedroom and bathroom had a big negative however - lack of heat! The room was cold and the bathroom was really cold! Quite what it would be like in...

Hello and thank you for taking the time to review us. It was nice of you to mention all the positives, but I was really sorry to hear that you felt the cold while you were here - we normally keep everything very cosy. We would certainly have done our utmost to rectify the situation if we had known. We...

This hotel has refurbished rooms and bathrooms, but still returns a slightly old fashioned feel, in that the service is very personal from reception to dining room. My room was spacious and attractively decorated. I did not have a meal, except for breakfast, which was excellent. The smoked haddock with poached egg is highly recommended! Perfectly cooked! The breakfast lady...

Dear Lovely Guest, It is so rewarding when everything that we do is noticed and appreciated - thank you for your detailed and generous review. The weather has changed from 1 extreme to the other several times in the last couple of weeks, so if the place was not always as warm it is because we have not seen the...
