The original hotel building is quite charming, however the modern extension and some of the outbuildings are in need of refurbishment. The interior is a mix of lovely traditional features such as the hallway, stairs, dining room and lounge with a lovely welcoming and blazing fire. We had a standard room utilizing an 'ITISON' voucher, which was spacious, clean and...

Me and a friend visited this hotel last month, upon arrival we were VERY disapointed at how run down the grounds have become! We have stayed here on a number of occasions over the years and previous to this visit was around 2 years ago, how things have changed!! This hotel seems to be under new management?? The new manager,...

We were well looked after here for our business meeting at this lovely traditional hotel in a picturesque setting near Dumfries which has easy access from the main road in an excellent location. The decor is a little dated but this added to the charm. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

My fiance and I were given a groupon voucher for a 2 night stay at Hetland Hall by my sons as a Christmas present. The receptionist, Emma, when I rang to book was very friendly and extremely helpful, so we were looking forward to trip from Yorkshire. When we arrived, the receptionist on duty was Kelly, was lovely and we...

Our second visit. Unfortunately, I had a migraine overnight on the first night, so hubby had to eat alone. The staff couldn't have been nicer - insisted on hubby taking me a simple sandwich up in case I was hungry overnight, and checked on me in the morning. Radiators belted out the warmth in cold spring weather, so nights were...

Enjoyed a two-night break with a family member and our respective partners. The hotel was full but quiet. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay. The ground and first floors are in good condition, the real fire in the lounge is wonderful after a day in the fresh air. The decoration in the second floor stairwell...

Stayed one night in executive double room on B & B terms plus Dinner. Very large room with king sized bed, excellent ensuite and good quality furnishings. Hotel well laid out but perhaps a little dated. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Dinner was very good three course meal for £20 per head. Breakfast ok. Good value for money.

Didn't have high expectations after reading the reviews on here !! I wasn't surprised We stayed in the older side of the house in a twin room. Room wasn't the nicest, rotten window frames that blew a gale both in the bedroom and bathroom, mould spores growing in the bathroom and very cold - wooden headboards had been screwed to...

Just home from 2 night stay, all staff very friendly and helpful, food in dining room and bar excellent, rooms a bit dated but everything you would need, wifi, freeview tv, radiator and convector heater, clean and warm rooms with comfy bed, complimentary tray had everything you need, looking forward to returning in the summer.

My wife and I have just had a comfortable overnight stay in the Hetland Hall Hotel. Our room (4) was relatively spacious albeit the bathroom was quite tight. The waitress in the morning seemed quite stressed, however the staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfasts were plentiful although perhaps missing a continental option such as croissants and muffins. Our evening...
