This was a fantastic property. The bed room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The room was a little dark but this was in keeping with the history of the property. The breakfast was very nice. We only stayed one night but we wished it had been more.

Booked a double room last minute and we were very happy. We stayed in room 3 and it was very spacious. The room overlooked the back garden so was nice and quiet. We ate at Little Italy (lovely restaurant) which is 2 minutes from Rivendell. Would take about 10-15 minutes to walk into the centre of Dumfries. Breakfast was good,...

Thank you for your positive review. Unfortunately since our hair dryers are not the fixed to the wall type we find that one tends to "walk" every now and then! We hope to see you again in the future. Bruce Harper, Proprietor.

Stayed 1 night in room 8 which has it's own entrance at the side of the building.we had a twin room as booked hotel at short notice and was very disappointed with the rooms size,it was the smallest hotel room Iv stayed in and the fact it's painted in dark colours doesn't help.bed was comfy so that was a big...

THE CLUE IS IN THE NAME Thank you for your review but I must say I do consider it to be somewhat harsh under the circumstances. Are you perhaps a llittle confused as to what you expected, ordered and received? I note that you refer to us a "4 star hotel". We are certainly not and don't claim to be....

Lovely comfortable room and very nice breakfast. Very pleasant staff especially as we were so late in arriving. The whole place was very tastefully decorated . Free wifi in the room easily accessed and good pillows which are always appreciated

Stayed as close to Glasgow for the Games, (last October.) Sat nav would have taken us around the corner and not in front of the premises, which are attractive, and furnished to period of house. Arrived to find very comfortable room, with all basic amenities. Our room, was at the front, with an en suite shower room, and weather was...

I'm from Dumfries but haven't lived their for 10 years. Throughout my life I passed Rivendell and always remarked on the aesthetics of the property, what a beautiful place especially when lit up at night. We booked to visit my family and it was a great stay. Our room was at the front of the building, old furniture in a...

Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you pointed out that you knew in advance that you were booking the one non en-suite room. We have been unable to upgrade Room 7 due to to the unique architecture of the house but this fact is very much refelcted in the price as it is always significantly cheaper. As for...

This was our second time ink Rivendell and it was just as good. Lovely, clean room. Tasty breakfast and good location (around 10 min walk to the station and around 15 min to town centre). Well worth the price.
