Lovely staff helpfull and friendly, beautifull building in a fabulous setting. In a scenic area with lots to do and see. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortably and traditionaly furnished.Tasty breakfast and good evening meal, not overpriced.Overall a great short break. The pool facilities were excellent, we used them every morning, a great start to the day. Would happily recomend this lovely traditional hotel...

We stayed in this beautiful hotel on our way back from Arran. It was the most tranquil setting.Staff were so Helpful from reception right through the hotel, nothing too much trouble.we are already planning a return trip. For those who play golf, the course is in excellent condition and well planned out. The pool looked fantastic, unfortunately I didn't have time to use it....

This was the 12th or 13th time we have visited, whic in itself must say something in itself. The food as always is of high standard and though you do not have to dress as formally nowadays as in the past, the general standards of the clientele remain above the usual for hotels and restaurants nowadays. Standard in now smart...

We were back in the UK for a week over my birthday and thought it a good idea if we went away for a couple of nights, to our favourite part of Scotland, Galloway. We booked three rooms in the Forest Wing, dinner, bed and breakfast. First of all the good points. The building is advertised for luxury country house breaks...

As we were in a party on a car rally we had not expected much, but the whole hotel experience set a new standard, the reception staff were helpful and friendly. They went the extra mile with a laundered pair of swimming trunks and a packed breakfast as we left so early. A stunning setting, the food was good, which...

Lovely quiet hotel. Large comfortable room. Most of the guests were of a certain age and appeared to be local diners. Very friendly staff. Delicious food. Suitable for a quiet retreat rather than for families with children.

We returned to stay at this hotel after a 3 year absence with fond memories of the high quality service, its great food and traditional values only to discover that standards had slipped unfortunately. The hotel's decision to relax the dress code to encourage more visitors is understandable in this tough competitive industry. However it would be good to maintain...

In previous years the food and style of hotel had been excellent. In three years the standards have slipped considerably, food has deteriorated, trainers sweat shirts and jeans in the dining room for diner, not even casually smart., a number of old regulars presumably still smart. The room above ours first two nights plenty of noise but didn't wish to...
