Booked two nights for myself and hubby and a treat for my 84 year old mum. We booked a suite with full kitchen for us and an accessible room for my mum. We have stayed at Staybridge Suites in Abu Dhabi and London so know and love the concept. We used the car park on East Port St which had plenty of spaces. Beware though of parking on the road as the wardens were round regularly with plenty of cars getting tickets.

We were given a lovely friendly welcome from the reception staff and also thanked for being IHG members. The rooms were fantastic. Extremely spacious with everything you need for comfort and practicality. The bed was super comfy, the bathroom had a lovely walk in powerful shower with rainwater shower and lovely smelling toiletries.

The rooms are nicely thought out too with plugs by mirrors for hairdryers. Nice that there was a safe in the room too. The kitchen is very well equipped with dishwasher, fridge with a small freezer compartment, microwave grill and 2 ring hob.

We ate in Daisy Tasker the first night but sadly myself and hubby didn't enjoy our meal (maybe we selected wrong from the menu) as my mum had the fish and really enjoyed hers. The second night we decided to take advantage of Marks and Spencer across the road with some lovely food which was easy to cook in the kitchen.

The breakfasts provided were excellent with a great choice and the scrambled eggs were absolutely delicious.

The room was very warm (not sure the air con was working as we couldn't get it below 18 degrees) so we opened the windows but it was very noisy.

This is now our new stay for our regular trips to Dundee but next time I think we would request a room overlooking the courtyard as it may be quieter.

Its a cool building (old jute factory) in a good location for the waterside attractions

Always a cheery welcome at reception which has a selection of basics as well as ready meals to buy (your room has a microwave)

The rooms are nicely appointed with comfortable beds & was that 2 TVs I counted- bedroom & sofa area? The rooms are very tall with brick ceilings

The collect & go bagged breakfast option is fine (you choose a fresh hot roll & hot & cold drink to go with it) but you probably wouldn't want to go more than 2 or 3 days with the same choice- i had my first Actimel & Kelloggs nutribar here. Wasn't sure why there is a random babybell in there with no crackers or plain rols (imho they could axe that item)

Very good covid credentials & a very clean hotel

One fiddly thing- parking isn't free & during the time i was there looked to be always full. Not a problem as a council car park (slightly cheaper) is close by & a long way from filling up right now but you have to pay (8am to 6pm) according to quite wide time limits

In this new world hotels don't clean the room everyday. I would recommend a cheap loo brush to be left in each bathroom

Overall good choice and fair value

Stayed for first time in October for a couple of days and was so impressed by the location, the staff, the room features and how well the hotel handled covid regulations

Location

Easy to access by car through an easy drive from the west along the riverside, easy to find hotel. Train would be easy too as it’s a ten minute walk from the station. I’d avoid the small car park at the hotel and use street or a couple of local council car parks at East Port or Olympia centre - all are free 6pm to 8am but Olympia is the cheapest to park at in the day for £7 which id say is decent for a city centre. Hotel is less than 10 mins walk from city centre shops and 2 mins from a retail park that includes M&S.

Staff

The check in was well organised meaning minimal contact. Staff always pleasant when passing, same as the housekeeping staff

Room

Had a one bedroom suite room with a seperate lounge, retained the character of the old building but was so modern. Bathroom had great water pressure like you would not believe which led to great showers, was rain shower over the bath. Lounge had sofa and a large tv. Kitchen area was really good with fridge dishwasher (even dishwasher tablets) plenty of plates and glasses, toaster, hob and a microwave / grill oven - my only negative point in the whole hotel was that I assumed it was a combi with oven and bought food to cook but it wasn’t so I’d bear that in mind. The bedroom was very comfortable king size bed, room also had ironing board and free safe which was big enough to take a laptop.

Covid

Hotel was well covered with guidelines and the breakfast was well managed and much better than other staybridges. Choice of two hot breakfast rolls, grab bag which was great quality with a muffin, choice of cereal, cereal bars , fresh fruit, yogurt, actimel drink and fruit juice. The seating area was available to eat at or you could take it back to your room. One idea might be to supply a couple of slices of bread which people could then make toast in their room. Free tea and coffee 24:7 was a nice touch

The pantry was available to buy chocolate wine frozen food etc but with M&S across the road that would be my first choice

Overall the hotel is superb and I’ve little doubt I’ll stay here again when in the area

I have been staying once a week for 3 weeks and can't fault Staybridge Suites. Rennovated Jute Mill with some lovely features remaining, yet a slick, modern feel. I have had 3 different suites and all have been of exceptional standard. My personal favourite was a room on the 5th floor with a view of the rigs through the sky lights, the more spacious room as compared to the others I have been in so far. Brilliant kitchenette with all you need, pots, pans, crockery etc, microwave/grill, nespresso machine, kettle and dishwasher. Bed is cosy and comfy, shower is wonderful and spacious too (do miss a bath though after a long commute and day working into a hospital), hand wash, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner supplied (great quality and smell lovely), hairdryer, ironing board/iron in the wardrobe as well as a safe. Great storage with a homely feel. Free wi fi which meant I could do video conference calls and a bit of work at a little sofa and table in the room or even at the breakfast bar. Really impressed with the Covid measures put in place, professional and the personal touch remains, this hotel has really thought about how to make everything as Covid secure as possible. Cosy "lounge" area to chill out in if you like downstairs, with all social distancing and security measures in place. Well stocked pantry to buy food and alcohol available too. M and S foodhall literally just over the road if you don't fancy what is on offer, sadly the restaurant isn't currently open during the week. Car parking could be an issue as the car park is relatively small, but cheap car park just up the road, I have been lucky enough to get a space twice, recent changes to ownership of the car park welcomed and a big improvement. Grab and go breakfast is an excellent compromise in these challenging times and ample in there to tide you over (Cereal bar, pro biotic yoghurt, muffin, mini babybel cheese, piece of fruit - you can choose fruit juice carton and/or hot drink as well as a hot bread roll with either egg, sausage or bacon options if you want hot option too) . Staff are friendly, professional and accommodating. Rooms are cleaned to an exemplary standard, some of the little touches may not be there as compared to some photos (cushions etc) but doesn't impact or detract from the whole experience/comfort. Great information leaflets explaining how to work things and the current procedures. Looks like I will be continuing my trips to Dundee for work for a bit longer and looking forward to coming back for my weekly visits. Doesn't feel like a hotel but rather a mini home from home. Thank you for making being away from my family with work in uncertain times a pleasurable and safe experience.

I have been staying here as an 'extended stay' guest for some time due to work. I absolutely love it here.
For me , It is like 'home from home' with extras! The rooms are fab! I cannot say anything negative about them. Beds - so comfy with lots of pillows. I always have a good night sleep!
There is a Gym, launderette type room with several washing machines and dryers (free of charge) plus a locker room which really comes in handy! These facilities have really made my stay even better, especially if I fly home for the weekend I can store my belongings.
The staff have also been and continue to be extremely helpful and welcoming. The manager Dee is always very keen to assist with any issues or questions, which sets a good precedent for her team to follow.
Greta, Caitlin, Jess are always very helpful and they do a fantastic job day in day out and they have made my stay even more enjoyable.
Also, there is a maintenance manager , Robert, who has a great personality! He is so very helpful and he maintains the suites and surrounding areas to an impeccable standard. He also helps with things like tv channels, which when you are away from home for some time, this is a necessity!!
Overall I would recommend this to anyone that needs a place to stay even for one night , as the suites or 1 bedroom apts give you more than what you get in a hotel and at a very reasonable price.

The whole hotel was very clean and looked very new. reception staff regularly cleaned the ground floor lounge area when time permitted. Staff stopped one guest walking into the breakfast area without a mask. Breakfast was quiet before 9 am. Dogs were plentiful but all were on their leads. Our room was excellent we parked in the Olympia car park about 250 meters away which was very secure over night 8 pm Friday-11am Saturday £3.

Stayed here for a short break, 2 adults and 2 pre teens. Hotel is very clean and feels really new and fresh. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful both before we arrived and during our stay.

Kitchen in room was well equipped and we were provided with dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. We thought the hand written card was a really nice touch and the treats when we arrived were very much appreciated!

Breakfast was tasty, rolls and bacon one day and rolls and sausage the next day with rolls and egg on both. A good selection of continental also available. Plenty of cereal choices.

For a family of 4 it was a little cramped at bed time but we were all still very comfortable and slept well. Bed was very comfortable.

Great size TVs and lighting in the rooms is lovely and relaxing.

All in all a really great place to stay and we would definitely return.

We had a great start when they let us park the Tesla in the electric bay and borrow a trolley for all our bags. Really friendly check in by Alice. Room 202 was a lovely suite with a kitchenette at the entrance then a small lounge, through to the bedroom and then to large bathroom with a very good shower over the bath. Lovely level of finish and the décor was in shades of grey with fabulous bare brick ceilings. Photos of its history as a jute mill were a nice touch as well.
The Wi-Fi was excellent and there were loads of charging points by the bed etc.
First night we had takeaway meals from Daisy Tasker: chicken korma and fish and chips, both delicious and piping hot.
Breakfast had an excellent choice and we liked the option to take it back to the room, although we only did that once.
The evening social with wine and beer plus generous food: pate, cheese, crisps etc. was a fantastic idea and a chance to chat to the hotel managers informally.
The location is quiet and a few minutes walk from the centre and the waterfront - and has a new Marks & Spencer food hall opposite

We stayed here for a couple of nights. This was the first time we stayed at a Staybridge Suites in Britain. We had previously used the chain in the USA,

The hotel is a converted Jute Mill and shares some original features which gives it character. The hotel also shares the building with another IHG hotel. Indigo Dundee.

The negative is that the car parking space is not enough. We did manage to park our car when we arrived. On other days there was no spaces available. You can park nearby on the street but you have to move the car by 8.00 am and there will still be no spaces available at the hotel car park.

I actually parked the car on a side street some 10 to 15 minutes walk away so there would be no time restrictions.

Check in was quick and easy.

We booked a one bedroom suite. We certainly liked the room, It had a separate seating area and a kitchen with lots of equipment and utensils. Cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster.

The bedroom was separate from the kitchen/seating area so we had lots of space in the suite.

The bathroom had a shower and tub. There was some local toiletries from the Scottish Fine Soaps company.

The location was very good. In front of the hotel was a small shopping area with a M&S Food Hall. We could easily walk to Dundee city centre. So it is a nice location to explore Dundee by foot. Especially when you park your car far away for the evening.

Breakfast is included in the room rate however this was Covid restricted. You get a grab bag and take it to your room along with your hot beverage from a machine.

The bag included a cereal bar, muffin, yoghurt. There was a breakfast roll available as well as a small juice carton.

The coffee was nice but there was nothing in the bag that grabbed me. The thought of having a calorie laden muffin first thing in the morning was not my thing.

We bought a loaf of bread from M&S and had that in our room.

Overall we had a very nice stay at this hotel.

I have written a previous review not realising I wasn't signed into my account properly. All of what I have written previously (Dr B) still applies. I have stayed another 2 times since my last review and now feel part of the Staybridge family! There was a little issue with the bath (They went over and above to get me a room with a bath and an unexpected little something in my room! Such a lovely personal touch) and bless Alice, she was devastated considering how they had made a point of getting me a room with a bath following my review. Well, she made sure I got a bath that night, can't fault customer services at all. This week, in the same room but they absolutely made sure the bath was fixed and it was heavenly, no children interrupting! Every single member of staff I have encountered here have been so friendly, warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and they maintain theor hospitality professionalism. Also, it's clear they are taking all of the ever changing rules regarding Covid seriosuly where cleaning is observed regularly. Given these strange, odd, rapidly changing times, the whole team are blooming brilliant. For a rather lengthy review of the rooms and "hotel" (it really doesn't feel like a hotel) then please see my previous review. Also special thanks to the gentleman on the front desk (sorry I can't remember your name) for looking after my milk needs, I genuinely have felt so well looked after and at a home from home. I actually will be sad that I won't be visiting many more weeks! You're truly making work trips so much easier to bare.
