A very warm welcome and all services clearly defined throughout hotel. Small unique setting in leafy suburbs of Dundee but only 20 minute walk to centre. Good view of tay estuary gives good first impression. Hotel well laid out for comfort and access with social areas to sit and enjoy morning papers television etc. The double room ample size was clean with en suite. Furnished tastefully with comfortable bed. Tea coffee snacks provided. Soaps toiletries also provided. The breakfast was ample cooked and continental with fresh fruit yoghurt cakes etc etc. The staff were discreet but polite and provided a great service.

A grand old building (Shaftesbury Hotel and Lodge are same thing). Very friendly welcome. Not a central location but a brisk 20 minute walk from the centre and close to bus stops on the regular number 5 bus route. Room was large with old high ceilings (oil electric heater in the room - not used but probably needed in cold weather). Wifi was a bit flakey but I'd not take marks off for that as I understood it was a provider issue being resolved. Trip to Dundee wasn't about hinging about in the Hotel but it was clean and comfortable and the breakfast really was rather good and such nice staff. It'll be my Dundee go to place in future.

I spent a night at the Shaftesbury this week. I arrived early evening to a warm welcome. The hotel was quiet and I was given an upgrade. The room was warm and comfortable and I slept well despite the weather

I’d a lovely hot cooked breakfast in a lovely bright dining room. If I’m back in Dundee this would be a favou

This is a lovely hotel/guesthouse. Our room was just fabulous and incredible value for money. Extremely spacious (I strongly recommend booking the large double room) and beautifully decorated. Situated in a nice area a mile or two from the centre - we walked into town and also drove with no problem finding free parking in town. If I go back to Dundee I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Booked this Hotel(guest house) last minute what a lucky find, very welcoming lovely comfortable immaculate rooms, everything you require and more. Breakfast was amazing with a vast menu give me this sort of place any day rather than the chain hotels. Slept like a log on the lovely comfy pillows would not hesitate in coming back😊😊

The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The furnishings/wallpaper are old/dated and need to be updated. Breakfast was average. With a completely full house, service and delivery of food was slow.

The smell of curry and cooking grease in the evening permeated even our 2nd floor room.

Our room was spacious and clean but in urgent need of renovation. Unfortunately the weather was chill and the heating system completely inadequate to cope with the low temperature and draughts.
Otherwise, the hostess was first class and the evening meal one of the finest Indian meals I have ever had. Breakfast was also very good.

A lovely building, and free on street parking, my room had a view of the sea. Its in a really quiet area of Dundee.

The bed is really comfy, however some of the walls could do with a clean (coffee stains up them).

Breakfast was massive (too big for me) and not really Scottish, no haggis, no black pudding compared to other Scottish breakfasts - I personally would prefer a smaller breakfast with better ingredients. Again the table clothes could do with a clean, tea stains on mine.

Staff were friendly.

The hotel has new owners. The breakfast choice had continental and cooked options. You can also order evening meals. It is in a very quiet area and about 20 walk to the centre of town. However, Perth Road has a lot of restaurants which is only 5 mins walk. Wifi fine.T he property is in need of some refurbishment and may look a bit tired to some. Bathrooms also needs some modernisation but quite adequate. It is excellent value for money.

Stayed at The Shaftesbury for 2 nights whilst visiting family in the area. Gentleman greeted us on arrival at 7pm. Lovely double bedroom, comfy bed. Plenty of tea, coffee. Nice touch with bottle of water, pringles and biscuits. Very much appreciated. Toiletries in the bathroom. Lovely hot shower.
A different gentleman greeted us at breakfast, very friendly. Breakfast excellent, plenty of choice, even gluten free bread for my mum.
Highly recommend. Close to Dundee City center, walkable, bottom of street(Perth Road)or top of street(Blacknes Road)bus route.
Would definitely stay here again.

I'm sorry but they don't. But if it is just for suite cases, Martin was very helpful and assisted in carrying them up with me. If someone is in a wheelchair, it will be a problem. But best to call and ask them. They are really a nice couple and very helpful.

Yes, we had no trouble finding off street parking. It is also walking distance to some pubs and grocery stores.
