I lived in Edinburgh for 10 years and love going back to see some of my old haunts. My wife booked this weekend so we could go and see one of my favourite bands in one of my favourite cities. I tend to be quite cynical about Bed & Breakfasts as they rarely live up to a suitable standard and...

Anyone who stays here knows Bill, who is a delightful and welcoming host. He is clearly proud of his business, and rightly so. The house is a lovely Georgian villa with well appointed rooms and en-suite bathrooms, some of which are a bit on the small side with small shower cubicles. The rooms are all comfortable with good beds and...

Lovely house, impeccably kept! We had a lovely room with a kettle for tea and coffee with snacks! Nice bathroom also. As for Bill, he definitely takes pleasure in serving his guests well. Beautiful dining room for breakfast, with a great spread! Fresh fruits, yogurts, jams & juices. We had a hot breakfast which consisted of sausages, eggs, black pudding...

We stayed overnight at Garlands Guest House in Leith on Sunday night. We were welcomed by our host and shown to a very decent sized ensuite double room. The location was perfect and we had a very good Scottish breakfast in the morning in a gorgeous front room with an interesting curved inside wall. We both agreed we will be...

Very comfortable guest house, with lovely clean interesting rooms. Good choice of breakfast. Easy walking distance to the city center and a very good bus service. Lots of very nice cafes a short walk away. Would recommend and visit again.

Decided to have a long weekend in Edinburgh and chose Garlands because of the good reviews and price. We were not disappointed. A beautifully restored Georgian House - a real delight to return to at the end of a tiring day. Although we did not meet Bill (he had escaped to New York) Lyn and her husband did him proud...

This was our second visit to Garlands and we were just as happy as our first stay. We took a double and twin room as a party of 4. The welcome from Bill and Ian is perfect, Bill is very witty and dry and immediately makes people feel at home. We were returning to Edinburgh for our anniversary and were...

Great stay & price for total of 5 nights. Bill runs a tight ship. My single room at end of hall by the staircase was adequate with shower stall separate from toilet. Shower head and mattress may need to be replaced soon. Outside city center, several convenient buses with wifi on Leith Walk. Guests were mindful of other guests. At...

Spent a couple of nights in Bill's Guest House while in town for a training course. Couldn't have asked for more - comfortable and well equipped room and shower room. Good selection of teas/coffees/nibbles etc. Breakfast was also excellent and cooked to order. Would thoroughly recommend! Street parking not a problem.
