Besides the squeaky floors which by the end of our stay we got used to it , we had a wonderful experience . The place is peaceful and quiet with a wonderful garden, clean rooms and lovely breakfast ( we do not like full English breakfast in the morning!) with homemade bread , scones and pancakes besides other things. Stayed here with two other couples at the end of our trip to Scotland. It was a nice accommodation at the end of our trip. The location is walkable to City Center. Rooms were clean, but a bit austere. The staff was very kind. We didn't explore the local neighborhood, but it felt like it was a bit isolated...perhaps just...

Has to be one of the best value places to stay in Edinburgh at £35 a night with breakfast. Warm, clean and comfotable it is a no frills pacckage with no TV in rooms and it is about 20 mins brisk walk from the city centre but there is reasonable WiFi reception and tea, coffee and hot chocolate in all...

If you were looking for a luxury hotel, well you wouldn't stay here...but it does do what it says on the tin. It is clean, warm (I had no trouble with noise at all). It had decent furniture but the bed was so hard...of course some people like that. It was very very basic. No TV, very basic breakfast, though...

Excellent location as it is 15 minutes walking to the Castle and Arthur's Seat. Clean rooms, nice breakfast, peaceful location with a great courtyard/park. Great price and beautiful neighborhood. Helpful staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Well what a lovely place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but yet close enough to easily access it either by bus or walking. Room a good size very comfortable, and very clean. The breakfast was very filling and a good selection. Good bus service into central Edinburgh and a nice walk also. In fact...

We were 100% satisfied with our stay at the Gillis Centre. The lady at reception was most helpful and gave us a warm welcome. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and convenient for public transport. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Overall excellent value.

I have been staying here on and off for many years. It's a quiet place for the most part although if staying in the newer block, it is situated above the main hall which has dances a couple of times a week and can be noisy then. These never go on late however. Some rooms on this side do overlook...

This was ideal for me: very welcoming staff, spacious and fascinating historic building with lovely garden in top residential area. Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent shower. Wifi everywhere. No TV in room which was fine for me. Buffet breakfast - help yourself. Car parking spaces. Good bus service nearby but I walked mostly including at night - very safe and lovely walk...

The hotel is in a former abbey and you feel there like at home. The staff is very frienly. Our room was rather big, may be a little ols-fashioned. There was no TV, the internet was only at the reception. The breakfast is OK. I liked the home-made bread. The breakfast started at 8 am, but one day we needed...
