Title says all. I do not recommend, much better places in Edinbrugh to go to if you want decent food. Reasonable decor but simply outraged at the audacity considering the food standards compared to the price.

Recently had a lovely stay here, for the second time. The room was kept very clean and was nice and quiet. All the staff we met were extremely helpful and friendly so would heartily recommend this lovely hotel and splendid room.

Love this little hotel for the staff and the location for sightseeing. Located in Old Town, it's next to the Univ of Edinburgh and very close to the National Museum of Scotland (highly recommended) and the Royal Mile. The location is more quiet than the hotels on the Royal Mile (which can get noisy on the weekends). We stayed in...

Overnight stay and breakfast: The room . . . Spacious and well appointed with a fabulously comfy bed, superb duvet and nice big well positioned tv, AND a socket next to the bed allowing my phone/alarm clock to be next to the bed. The hairdryer was great and the mirror was next to the socket making for a pleasant hairdrying...

Good location, within easy walking distance of both new and old town attractions. The staff were fantastic with the only gripe being the service at breakfast was incredibly slow with parts of our order never materialising. Basic items on the buffet bar were also constantly running out, such as fruit juice. They appeared under staffed and the restaurant was only...

This a small hotel with each room having unique name. It's got nice location ( although one can get better location). It's walking distance from castle, royal mile etc. The restaurant service is very slow. However the food is nice with innovative presentation. Staff is extremely helpful.

We stayed 2 nights and were very pleased with our large open room and bathroom. Hotel is in a great location (5 mins walk from castle etc) and has a lovely bar area, although late night service was very slow one night. Slight issue with lighting in our room (its ambient - I call it dark!) but staff very helpful...

I have to agree with the review posted by S R Weston (17 April) regarding the Henley Vineyard room. Nice hotel. Well appointed. Very nice bathrooms. Probably not 5 star but close, they're charging 5 star prices! Speed of service in the restaurant at breakfast incredibly slow. I mean slower than a snail (feedback given directly to the hotel.) But all in all a nice hotel!

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
