2021 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Fingal opened in January 2019 in the historic Port of Leith as a unique addition to Edinburgh’s hotel scene following a £5 million development. This former Northern Lighthouse Board ship, begins an exciting new chapter offering beautiful cabins, dining and entertaining space. Developed by The Royal Yacht Britannia, Fingal’s 23 luxury cabins are each named after Stevenson lighthouses, inspired by her rich maritime heritage. Sleek corridors lined with lighthouse images lead to the choice of cabins, from a luxury cabin with access to the deck, a duplex cabin with comfortable living space or the stunning Skerryvore Suite with extensive outdoor space to relax and entertain. Carefully considered design offers the highest specifications of craftmanship and finish, with nautical touches and polished woods. Sumptuous Scottish leathers and the finest linens are in colour palates inspired by Fingal’s journey from land and sea.

I don’t want to repeat too much of what others have said but want to thank the staff for a wonderful two nights on board Fingal. It’s a beautifully fitted out ship, food is fabulous, and the location in Leith is so close to many fabulous restaurants. We tend not to repeat visits but this could be the exception!

The Fingal is the most magical place to stay. The staff are exceptionally talented in their profession and they portray the highest standards of service. My partner and I stayed here for one night for my birthday and we will most certainly be back. From the elegant yet traditional decoration, to the exquisite food, to the beautiful rooms; This is a truly unique and wonderful ship.

I had booked 2 nights stay at Fingal to celebrate my husband’s 60th Birthday. Unfortunately he was struck down by a stomach bug on the Monday when we were meant to arrive. I contacted Fingal & dealt with a lovely colleague called Jennifer who was able to move our booking to the Tues/Weds as they had a room available on the Wednesday. When we arrived on the Tuesday, every member of staff we dealt with were friendly, professional & made us feel most welcome. Although my husband thought he felt better he couldn’t eat his dinner despite the food being delicious & therefore we did not benefit from the full Fingal experience on this occasion. I cannot thank the staff enough for the concern they expressed & in going out of their way to ensure that we did not feel uncomfortable in any way. I would highly recommend a stay at Fingal & will hopefully return at some point with a healthy husband next time.

Not long home from our 3 night stay on the Fingal . This was our 3rd visit to this absolutely fabulous ship . We have now stayed in three different types of cabins ! Each one is so gorgeous and the beds are huge and super comfy . The details in the cabins are unique with great products in the bathrooms. The weather was great and we had the added bonus this visit of experiencing cocktails on the deck ! Just spectacular. The staff were brilliant from front desk to the team in the bar and restaurant . Can’t thank them enough for making our stay very special. This is now our only place to stay while visiting Edinburgh .( Our Edinburgh home !) A special thank you to Marinel and Charlie and to the rest of the Crew We hope to return soon .
