Good location, comfy bed, friendly staff, good shower. The shampoo/conditioner, shower gel and hand soap provided are all the same thing, so bring your own shampoo etc. Lights in the rooms are very dim also. The bed runner was visibly soiled and remained despite room being serviced twice. Otherwise, good for a business trip, don't recommend for a holiday

We visited Edinburgh for a 5 day family Christmas break. We couldn't fault this hotel at all. From the helpful, friendly staff to the ideal location. It was great. We will definitely be staying here again.

We're just back from 4 nights at this Travelodge and we were more than happy with our choice. Being an older building the rooms are larger and more solidly built than some of the newer branches, though still warm, dry and well cleaned. Our one concern was that we might have sacrificed a good night's sleep in favour of location,... More

Situated at the east end of Rose Street. Only a five minute walk from the bus station. The room although basic, suited our purpose as all we wanted was a bed for the night which was near to shops, eateries & nightlife.

This place is in a great location but just a shame that this time the building across the road was being developed so the builders gave us an early morning wake up call!! Can't complain about the room, cheap and cheerful. Clean and comfortable bed. Staff were helpful when a problem occurred with the toilet and issue was sorted quickly!

We visited Edinburgh for Light Night , and as usual our stay at Rose Street Travelodge was perfect. A large airy room, well heated, clean, comfortable and gave us the perfect relaxing base for our trip. All the staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The location is perfect as we always travel by rail and there... More

Stayed here for the rugby, perfect city centre location and 5 minute walk from Waverley station. Arrived and was checked in very prompt and efficiently, on going in to my room it was a little small, I asked if they had any bigger rooms and was changed to a massive room on another floor, bonus! Very clean and tidy and... More

Room large and clean, great location. Some outside noise but ok. the noise of the water pipes were a bit annoying. Hotel smelt nice. Reception staff were foreign, it took a while to check in due to accent differences.

Great location for a budget hotel! Everything is literally on the doorstep. Very good value for money, spotless room and very polite staff. It's everything you could ask for for the price. I will definitely be using it again.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
