We were there for two nights but on the second day we woke up at 08h00 to find out that there was No hot water Apparently we were the first and marne only guests that have noticed the issue as the manager was not aware of it until I came downstairs and no great service was offered as Bruce the...

I understand that this isn't exactly the Balmoral but it should be possible to provide hot water for guests. There was none in the shower in room 306 at 8.30 this morning and neither a lengthy wait nor repeated twiddling of the temperature dial seemed to change matters. I would have raised this on the way out but there was...

I've rated this 4 stars for various reasons. Obviously, as a Travelodge it's fairly basic, but the room was clean, the staff were helpful and best of all, it's in a great location. The best way to get to this hotel from the airport is via tram - if you get off at Princes Street, it's just a couple of...

Is hotel was everything we needed for our stay in Edinburgh! Amazing location, within walking distance to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, and also lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. The room was basic (but that's what we wanted!) and the bed was super comfy. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again!

Central location with numerous bars, restaurants on the door step. Room clean and tidy. Staff were simply amazing, Italian lady on reception was extremely hospitable and welcoming. Will most definitely stay again x

such a lovely hotel - staff on reception so friendly and helpful - room was fine for a very central hotel right next to everything you could want for a stay in Edinburgh -- its a city hotel so no parking and no views, however our room overlooked busy rose street - your not really in Edinburgh to stay in...

Great location, great value, large room. It overlooked the (noisy) street but not a problem. Reception is hardly imposing but it doesn't need to be and the welcome was good. I also appreciated the early check-in. I ordered one of their breakfast boxes and the milk for the cereal was VERY sour, which I pointed out to them. It won't...

I'm always concerned when staying centrally that there will be noise from outside, but my room here was looking out onto Rose Street Lane North and there was very little going on outside. It was a single room, so quite small, but I was only staying for one night and the important thing is a comfortable bed and a good...

We stayed at the hotel with our 18 month old. The room was basic but that meant very few dangers for a toddler. A travel cot was provided and the hotel was not noisy. There was a kid friendly cafe round the corner in Hannover Street also.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
