The room is quite big and clean. The hair-dryer is borrowed from front desk. The receptionist is helpful that recommend us the attractions in Edinburgh. Very close to Calton hill. Located in prince street. It is very convenient to travel to old town and new town.

The title says it all, would recommend to anyone! It was clean, Central, and had a huge room, and the people at the desk was very accommodating. It was good value for money and we are going to return shortly.

The hotel was a great value for money, and close to all the shopping areas and sightseeing places. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back there if I went to Edinburgh again.

What a great little spot! We just needed a clean place to sleep for a couple of nights on either end of our Rabbies tour. We got a fair price on parking using the discount the hotel gave us and we were right across the street from Rabbies. Our room was spacious and just what we needed at a really...

This an ideal place to stay when visiting Edinburgh either for a night out ...being a tourist or going to the theatre. Ideally placed at the East end of Princess Street and very close to all the amenities including Wavered Station..... it's a very clean and quiet hotel with very friendly staff

Perfect location to get between the old and new parts of the city. My room was clean and comfortable on the first floor with a great view. The only negatives were the creaky floorboards! Sort this out! I was tiptoeing around trying not to disturb others around me and failing.

Location is excellent and very convenient for the city centre, Omni and The Playhouse (our reason for staying). The room and bathroom, as with all Travelodges, was basic but spotlessly clean. Sadly the room was lacking daylight as our window looked right onto another wall just inches away making the room very dark even with all the lights on. Unusually,...

This is a standard Travelodge, good clean room with all the basics - except hairdryer. A good location, particularly for Waverley Station. Staff very friendly and helpful. Prices were high as we visited during the European Cup Final weekend but ordinarily, this would be very good value - it still was compared to some other places ! If you don't...

What can I say it is a travelodge - comfy bed, clean and no frills. Best thing is the location it is great for the old town and princes street. So if you want a comfy clean room at a good price smack in the heart of Edinburgh this is a good choice

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
