This is my second visit to this particular Travelodge & the high standard from last time was present once more. The location is brilliant, literally 2 minutes walk from Princes street. There is plenty to see & do, and being only a few minutes walk away from all the main attractions is fantastic. The staff on reception were really friendly...

Lovely room with views over Princes Street. easy access to lots Edinburgh has to offer. A stones throw from the train Station. Easy for trams. Walk up Calton Hill for beautiful view of the city. Staff were brilliant and friendly, happy to help. Room clean and comfortable.

The hotel was very clean and bright, and the room was comfortable. The location was central to everything, only a few minutes walk from St James NCP carpark, and close to the shops, restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and attentive, and for the price it was a great place for an overnight stay in the City.

Very good stay in centrally located hotel. Receptionist very welcoming especially as I arrived by cycle and was apprehensive about taking bike to room - Reception had no problem with this and were very helpful. Great value for money. I would definitely return to this hotel on family trip next time

This Travelodge is in a brilliant location, minutes from both the bus and train station (Waverly) Waterloo Place is at the end of Princess Street so you could not be better placed for everything. shops, bars, places to eat etc.

Would definitely stay here again. Excellent location just 5mins from the station. Room was at the rear and was quiet. We arrived early but room was ready so we could check straight in. Can also leave luggage in secure location and pop some money in charity box. Room didn't have bedside tables or shelf, but it wasn't a problem.

Very central location, but very quiet at night Lovely staff whatever the time day and night. Beautifully clean! Only down side (but could be said of any Travelodge) not enough plug sockets and no mirror by plug socket, you need to be a contortionist to do your hair!

Brilliant location. Always clean and ideal for the business traveller. I always choose travel lodge now for my work trips. This location is ideal for the train station and for the tram to the airport.

Does not look much from the outside, if you decide to stay here it is extremely close, five minutes walk from the train station, and the same if you cut through the St James Centre. The rooms at the front of the property's are bright and clean with great beds, basic but functional? It is a site that you use...

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
