Looking forward to an few nights away - hotel info said jacuzzi or roll top bath in superior room with king size bed. When we arrived only a couple of the superior rooms have the nice bathrooms and king size is two singles bolted together. The hotel is 100% no smoking and ensure all guests know this. But with no... Brilliantly appointed antique style boutique hotel. Very comfortable great breakfast. Minor drawback some of it at garden level so a little lacking in natural light but otherwise amazing value for money

From the beginning we were delighted, it was exactly as I remembered from previously when I attended a function here. It reeked Old World charm and luxury of a bygone age with modern facilities to boot. The staff were all super, helpful friendly and good conversationalists. We used the dining room and the bar for food. We had excellent food,... More

Large room, bathroom with bath and shower. Excellent breakfast served by cheerful, friendly staff. Bar/bistro serving food until 10pm. This was once the home of Ernest Shackleton and although obviously modernised still retains lots of character.

We were in Room 64 Nimrod which was in the roof. It was a lovely large room with separate seating area and the bathroom was massive. The hotel is a little out of the city centre, but very easy to walk to and close to bus stops and because it is in a residential area it was really quiet. The... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights, the room was a petite double and was really cosy and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful with everything. The breakfast is great, great pastries and fruit to choose from as well as nice hot breakfast. The brasserie downstairs is also good, with amazing staff and good food. While the hotel... More

Really lovely Oldy worldy hotel. Clean rooms, comfortable bed, nice lounge areas and lovely breakfasts. The wonderful experience was only marred by them not catering for a lactose intolerance for afternoon tea, despite a friend telephoning twice before the trip to confirm that they could cater for this. Apparently it was all documented but the kitchen staff didn't pick this... More

Another great stay here ( 3rd or 4th time now ), Staff always helpful and go that extra mile to accomodate any special requests. We will most certainly be back in the near future. nice and quiet but not too far from the West end of Princess Street which is only a 10 minute walk or so away. Nice full... More

Well appointed rooms and public areas in this mid terraced block of houses. Staff are very friendly and hotel offers various special deals for short stays. Food is simple but adequate served in basement brasserie. One thing to watch out for is the high price of malt whiskies. Would definitely use again.

Due to lack of choice we booked this hotel and we are so glad we did. Tastefully retains its history while providing what guests now expect such as tea/coffee facilities and wifi. could nit pick as the shower was a bit of an adventure with the temp fluctuating without any input! But would that prevent me recommending, no. The walk... More

Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia reflecting the history of previous tenant Sir Ernest Shackleton. ... more   less
