Loved this small and unique boutique hotel! The location was perfect (close to the airport), the free parking was key to my booking since I had a rental car. Had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant and loved the decor and furnishings. Would highly recommend! The staff was very friendly, courteous and eager to help. Gareth at the bar was...

It is absolutely fantastic place to stay and to take your time easier, you are surrounding with people who loves and enjoys what are they doing, they know how to take care of you in the best way. I remember the situation when I got back to the hotel after my evening walk and was surprised how they prepared a...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dunstane hotel. It's in a good location, being only a short 15min walk into the main centre, and the fact that there is free parking was a big plus for us. The room itself was small, but beautifully finished and had lots of nice little touches, which made it a comfortable visit. The...

You can if you wish easily catch a bus and there's a stop right outside the front of the hotel. Anyhow are stay was excellent, we had a normal sized...

My wife and I just had a wonderful stay at the Dunstane Hotel. I have stayed before but it was the first time for my wife. Our room was amazing; from the massive bed to the Copper Bath in the Bay Window; not to mention the luxurious pillows and bedding. The staff were tremendously helpful and always extremely pleasant. Amazing place. The staff, rooms, decor and house are amazing. Nice interiors and great whisky lounge with tasty food. The beds are very comfortable and room had everything we needed. Will definitely stay here again if I find myself in Edinburgh again.

After booking I received email confirmations and was asked if I would like any extras which was brilliant. On arrival the staff were helpful and welcoming. The room we stayed in (room 9) was absolutely beautiful with a large comfortable bed, sofa, TV, large copper bath and a luxurious bathroom with a large shower. The toiletries were lovely too (Molten...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dunstane dates all the way back to 1852 to a design of William Playfair, one of Edinburgh's most famous architects. Now a boutique hotel privately-owned and managed by Derek and Shirley Mowat, each of our bedrooms offers a fresh take on country house charm. You can look forward to restful nights in four-poster beds with subtle accents of current style. Or stretch out king-size and enjoy all the period details and in-room features. ... more   less
