Superb stay from start to finish. Smooth check in, despite arriving early, our bags were stored enabling us to go for lunch. Once we returned we were in our room within 5 minutes. The room itself is on small side, but more than enough as we had no intention in staying there apart for sleeping. Noted some reviews moaned about bathroom. It is a good size and shower was very good. Two minor quibbles, firstly no drawer space, and secondly, given mo housekeeping unless 3 day+ stays, more coffee and milk would be welcome. Something we enjoyed about this Ibis was how they have utilised their space to include a lobby bar, reception zmd breakfast room. All very airy and spacious. Breakfast was adequate and the hot food was most welcome before a day exploring Edinburgh. Finally, some reviews mention the characters on the square, we found very little noise and no problem at all. All in all a positive experience and we will return soon. Ps - All staff were more than helpful. A great advertisement for Ibis!

Hotel's Favourite
Check-in was seamless and quick. Very nice and helpful staff. We stayed on the 5th floor overlooking hunters square. Room was very quiet. Bed was really comfortable. Hotel is very central and just off the Royal Mile and close to both the Castle and Museum. It was wonderful to see the city coming back to life again. Now is a great time to visit. I really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and intend to come back in the near future. Very enjoyable experience.

Spent two nights here. Staff courteous and helpful. Room clean but small. Bathroom very small with very cramped toilet. Shower ok but average flow. Breakfast ok but surprised that it was self service. Guests observed picking slices of bread up with fingers instead of tongs, The hot food was covered which meant that everyone used the handles and ladles. Not comfortable with this arrangement during the pandemic, The tables did have sanitizer bottles however.

We have just stayed for 3 nights at the Ibis in Hunters Square. It is around 5-10 minutes uphill walk from the train station depending whether you take the steps or the longer slope. Having checked in online, (and given my credit card details), we arrived at around 12:30 and our 1st floor room was ready. An extra pillow requested, provided immediately by reception. Reception staff were faultless - always happy to help despite being VERY busy. We were warned no cleaning would be done as we were only there 3 days (Covid). First impressions on venturing outside to explore Edinburgh, the Square was full of local lager louts shouting & intimidating passers by. However a few yards onto the Royal Mile & the whole area improved. There are numerous shops, bars, pubs serving food (including the Albanach, Advocate), all within a few steps. Having paid for premium room, on the first night we had to tightly close both windows/glazing to kill the noise from the leftover hardcore inhabitants still in the square, to eventually get to sleep by 1am. We took advantage the morning after of ear plugs offered - just in case. Breakfast was a delight ! Expecting a cold continental it was a joy to find a hot & cold buffet. Everything hot was piping hot & replenished. We were given times to attend to limit numbers in the restaurant - this appeared to work well. Nights 2 & 3 were not so noisy as night 1, but we kept both windows tightly shut. SO what's needed.... If you are not going to service the rooms for 3 days, then bigger bins required Also more supplies of tea, coffee, milk (reception staff are busy enough without requests for this - we brought some of our own, but people were queuing daily) Management need to contact Police & Council to move the undesirable's from the square. Finally - whose idea were those bedside lights !! I was scared to switch them on in the dark in case I pulled them off the wall ;)

Nice hotel , central location. Staff were great and very friendly! Would advise earplugs if staying in a room at the front of the hotel (hotel will provide these on request). Breakfast curiously overpriced considering there are some great cafes nearby which offer cheaper breakfast rates?
