The room was just as expected for what we had paid - modern, clean, a big comfy bed and a lovely big shower. The idea was that we would be out and about sightseeing so we weren't planning on spending much time at the hotel. However, the time we were there, the staff were helpful and polite and the all...

A very well placed hotel, fab restaurants and bars within a very short walking distance. Fabulous room with good quality toiletries and not forgetting the little duck to bring home. The bar and restaurant area was very good with excellent service.

I didn't have a booking and tried my luck after midnight, Nabin from the Nights Team couldn't have been more helpful or positive, despite my being very late and my wayward nephew causing hassle a couple of hours later when he decided to emerge from the pub. The following morning we were greeted by the most cheerful and upbeat team...

Visited here for one night with my husband to attend a friends birthday in town. Lovely friendly welcome from reception staff. Room of decent size with a great sized bed. Room was lovely and clean with a view of Edinburgh castle. Didn't get much chance to check out the hotel facilities but thought breakfast at £16pp was a little expensive....

We stayed here for a short break at the beginning of January. Staff were really friendly when we checked in; we were quite early, but one of our rooms was ready so we were able to leave our bags and go for lunch and see some of the sights of Edinburgh. The rooms were spotless, the bed was very comfortable....

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from all major attractions in Edinburgh. The room was tidy and clean, there were amenities to make tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

We often visit Edinburgh a week or two before Christmas to take in the festive sights. There are lots of hotels to choose from, but location is seriously important for us - we wanted somewhere central but not right on Prince's Street, yet somewhere not too far from the action (so not Haymarket or Holyrood as in previous years). The...

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
