Friendly, knowledgable, professional staff, a lovely room in a fabulous location made for wonderful April visit. Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and the National Museum were all within walking distance. There were lots of restaurant and pub choices across the street or within a short walk. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

We stayed in Apex City from 6 April - 9 April 15. Our stay was excellent. The staff were very helpful and very pleasant. We dined in the Hotel and the food was excellent. My boyfriend & I stayed here for two nights in March and I could not find fault with the hotel. I saw from previous reviews renovations were taking place at the hotel but these were finished when we stayed and the only work being done was the painting of the corridors, which had no impact on our stay. We arrived...

a very comfortable and clean hotel. Location is excellent, within walking distance to main attractions, a close castle view and right in Grassmarket. Staff are extremely efficient and friendly. Room from my view was not spectacular but that didn't really affect me. I also had a very good free wifi connection from the room which was appreciated.

Stayed here for two nights while my partner and I explored the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was great for the price. Everything we needed was there, including some bottled water and a free rubber duck! While here we got engaged; the staff on learning this gave us a bottle of bubbly and wrote us...

Hotel reviews are always funny because I find people fundamentally forget that to evaluate somewhere you need to take the price you pay into account, too many reviews don't do this. This hotel sits in Edinburgh's Grassmarket, an old almost bohemianesque square lined with bars and restaurants, most open air, the ambiance and atmosphere are palpable. We've been at the...

Dear Guest Thank you very much for posting a 5***** star review of the Apex City hotel on Tripadvisor. I really appreciate your kind comments and the in depth feedback you left. Good location very close to castle and grassmarket restaurants on doorstep. Very clean and comfortable room - we would ask for a room facing front with views of castle - our view was rubbish. Book direct with hotel and get £10 voucher for drinks in the bar. Good value for money.

Stayed here for an Easter weekend break. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The room was lovely with a very nice spacious bathroom. Location too was excellent within walking distance of everything. Would certainly recommend the breakfast. We look forward to staying here again.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
