Great little apartment. Great location, everything is within walking distance, Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle. shopping, restaurants. Lovely little pub around the corner to make your local. Great veiw of Arthurs Seat. Split level apartment ideal for two people. Well aquipped and clean and well stocked cupboards. Liked it very much.

I stayed here with three friends. The apartment was lovely, well worth the money. Nice and clean and well equipped. My only gripe is the sofa bed. These desperately need replacing. I did mention this on leaving and the receptionist informed me they were hoping to replace them all from May. They really do need to do this, as apart...

We booked this hotel without doing any research, and as the trip came closer i did a bit of research and read a few quite bad reviews which put some doubts in my mind about our choice. Thankfully these doubts were unfounded. We got checked in very quickly and went to have a look at our apartment. My only complaint...

We stayed for two nights in Feb 2015. It was a nightmare to find parking near by and we had to carry our bags over a mile in the end. The apartment was small and the living room area was very small didn't have a sofa in so we didn't use the apartment as we had originally planned. There was...

The hotel/apartments are in a great location. Very close to The Royal Mile, Castle etc and opposite Arthur's Seat. The room is very modern and well equipped but they are quite small and the pictures do make it look like they are bigger. Due to the fact that the rooms are compact, it makes noise an issue. You can hear...

We stayed here, in a studio apartment, with our two children in the middle of December. The apartment was clean, inexpensive, nicely decorated and well equipped. It's well situated for Holyrood and the Royal Mile. On the downside the room is open plan with the main bed situated on a small balcony overlooking the double sofa bed below so every...

We stayed here for one night because it was one of the cheapest places we found in the city centre. When we got there we found out it was student accommodation on all over floors bar he third. The room was compact but had everything we needed. The bathroom was behind the door, with a shower, toilet and sink. It...

Stayed here with my husband, sister and her partner. When booking it stated room1 and room2. However it's all open plan with the bed up on a balcony overlooking the ground floor with sofa bed. It's small however decor and facilities to high standard. Located about 5min walk from royal mile. Quiet location so just perfect. Only downside was the...

LOCATION - was great for being a tourist in Edinburgh, as it was about a 10-25 minute walk to everything we wanted to see. CLEAN - I tend to be a stickler about cleanliness and I'm happy to report that at no time did I feel the urge to scrub, dust or vacuum a thing! Ah….very nice. :-D BATHROOM -...

The room is in a wing of a University dorm, with most of the people in the building being students. The room I stayed in was split-level, with a nice, though small, bathroom with shower on the landing, a nice bedroom area on the upper level, and a small kitchen counter, desk, table with chairs downstairs (with a TV on...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
