We left The Principal - Edinburgh on April 12th and while we were doing the check out, the hotel's front desk man couldn’t find in the system our payment for our accommodation. We said we paid it when we were still in Brazil. He said that, he would look for the payment registration with the financial department. He asked us...

This is a great hotel, wonderful staff, excellent food. Furthermore it has been refurbished to a very high standard. But the new bathrooms are still maddening because there is nowhere to put anything, except on the floor and no magnifying mirrors. If you see a woman walking down Princes Street with eyeliner meltdown, you'll know she's being staying at the...

Stayed here for one night with my partner to celebrate my birthday whilst on a trip to Edinburgh and we were very impressed with the hotel and the service. Our room was ready early so we were able to check in before the normal time. Room was immaculate, bathroom beautifully clean with all the expected toiletries available. A tuck box...

We stayed at this property for 3 nights and loved it. Location is fantastic with every tourist spot walking distance away. Its in a slightly less touristy part, but in 5 mins you are in the middle of all hustle bustle. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had some noise in the evening due to a wedding party...

This was a very comfortable hotel, and also a very attractive one. The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful. The rooms were larger than I expected. There are two restaurants attached to the hotel and the food was very good. Centrally located, this is a great place to stay while you are visiting Edinburgh.

There is nothing I can fault with this hotel. I stayed for 7 nights for a mixture of business and leisure. 3 day conference room. Could not rate this hotel high enough from the food to the helpfulness of the staff and extremely comfortable rooms. Location is also fantastic - my preference is to be in the New town rather...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
