This hotel is ideally located about a 10 minute walk from Waverley Station. The staff are friendly & helpful. The stairs are a bit steep & winding but a staff member offered to carry my case up & down when I left. The room is a good size as is the bathroom, all very clean. There are tea & coffee...

Excellent location. Big, clean rooms. Good service. Helpful staff. Good wi-fi connectivity. No lift, so even for the 3rd floor, you have to carry your luggage on the stairs without any helper. Breakfast should be made available from the 06:30 am (at the least). It was not ready even at 07:45 am, which is not acceptable.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Edinburgh. Our breakfast time is available on our website and on all travel agencies website's for our customers. This breakfast is complimentary (free of charge) for the hotel guests, and we can't adjust the operation time unfortunately for the individual needs of each person because our staff...

Hi booked this hotel through Booking.com for two nights in August 14th to be precise. Triple room bed and breakfast. Now need to cancel due to circumstances changing. I was well within the normal cancellation period that normally is stated however this hotel charges full price if cancelled within 21 days in August. I also found out I have previously...

We are glad you enjoyed your birthday celebration. I'm sorry about the lack of lift in the hotel, but we operate in a historic building (built in 1805!). It is quite fascinating to think about all the history but could be of course an understandable inconvenience. Our housekeepers are happy to know you find your room satisfyingly clean. Thank you...

We had an excellent stay. the staff was attentive and quickly addressed our problems with the wi-fi, the room was spacious with a charming view north to the Firth in the distance. Everything in the room was clean and taken care of. Be prepared for stairs that are very steep and challenging to climb. Breakfast was continental style with cold...

I found this place great for breakfast and the appointments were all good. Location - excellent, not far from where you want to be in Edinburgh. We'd be back if it weren't for the red theme - My wife felt it was kinda like "The Shining" I'm happy there was no elevator !! lol Otherwise really good spot - recommend.

Thank you for your review. I can reassure you that we don't have any ghosts, which is kind of a shame for a historic building as ours. :) Hope you had a great time in Edinburgh.

Would defiantly come back, we stayed in the double room down stairs which was perfect for us, it wasn't to small, and it was very clean. The bed was really comfortable. The staff cleaned the room everyday while we were out. The bathroom was nice, loved the shower, it was amazing. We were provided towels which were watched daily if...

I like Regent House Hotel: attentive staff, good WiFi, tasty breakfast. The tramstop to airport is situated nearby. Price for the room was modest. Room was quiet and bed was very convenient. When I return to Edinburgh, I will stay there again.

Wonderfully located, very attractive old world style hotel. Convenient to visiting all over the city, friendly staff and very quiet. Restaurants on the premises, bar service in the lobby, city maps available from front desk. Would definitely return if ever I get to go back to Edinburgh.

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighbourhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
