We arrived in Edinburgh by car and could not pull up outside the Hotel, but down the road a bit. It was early to book in so we unloaded the car and took the 4 cases to reception. We were advised that we could park the car safely not far away for a discounted fee of 10 pounds. We parked... More

We've stayed in hotels, private homes, B&B's all over the world and this is in the top 3. We had 3 couples for The Open, 1st time in Scotland, we booked a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartment. Everything about our stay was incredible! The service was top-notch, our apartments were well appointed and very comfortable bedding with spacious bathrooms.... More

I stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with my parents which is a must see property. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and everything is top class. Their homemade shortbread is the best I have ever had. I am definitely coming back!

We were only there for one night in July, but were favorably impressed. Our room was a corner space with views of the castle, and, while it overlooks a very busy intersection, the double-glazed windows kept the room quiet. The hallways are a little circuitous as you might expect from a re-design of an older building but the staff was... More

We recently had 2 nights at the Rutland staying in one of their 2 bedroom apartments ( No.19). It was terrific and perfect for our family of 5. We loved the central location, the well equipped kitchen and laundry and and the lovely garden out the back to sit in when the sun was shining.

A massive and beautifully decorated room with lots of extra touches like home made shortbread and proper milk in the fridge. Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
