Ended a long trip through Northern Europe at the Balmoral. The check-in process was a bit tedious as they had all of our information prior to arrival and didn't have cards ready for distribution, but rather made each person in a group of 21 check in individually which took over a half-hour. Service at the hotel was otherwise stellar. Some...

The B&B is basic and in need of some attention to detail and TLC. However not expensive compared to there B&B so close to city centre. so you take the rough with the smooth. Good Choice for breakfast but stay away from the bacon!! Staff Friendly enough

Stayed at the Balmoral for business. Great service with no fuss on arrival. Bag taken to room, car taken away, checked in without any issue - seamless start (those little things make a difference when you're in a hurry). Fantastic room with amazing 007 themed bathroom ! Great hotel facilities / bar / meeting spots, in a central Edinburgh location....

Visiting the Balmoral Hotel for coffee has become an integral part of the schedule for my Mum and I on our annual trip to Edinburgh over the past 25 years. Sadly, we won't be back following a dreadful visit this weekend. We waited ages until anyone came to our table (no menus available anywhere either). We ordered coffee and asked...

Just wonderful! The building is exquisite. The staff bent over backwards to anticipate and accommodate my every need. The room was well appointed, quiet and spacious. Delicious breakfast served in room or in the restaurant. Next time (I will be back), I plan to dine in their Michelin star restaurant.

I had a lovely 3 night stay at the Balmoral. The staff made me feel very welcome and looked after me with great courtesy. The room (complimentary upgrade) was lovely, the bed very comfortable. The spa facilities were great and the meal I had in Hadrian's Restaurant was excellent. Really enjoyed my visit.

A beautiful hotel, and ideally located for those that like to walk. Multiple routes to the Royal Mile, shopping to the NW, theatres to the east, and a healthy walk down to Leith (the port). Concierge also did a great job getting us last minute tickets to Van Morrison, and great great seats. The only place to stay in Edinburgh

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighbourhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
