Had a girly lunch here yesterday. Food was excellent. There was something for everyone on the menu and the cocktails were amazing. The staff were so helpful and really made us feel welcome. Will definitely be back.

An impromptu post-work meal in the bar was deeply disappointing. We've been there for food a couple of times in the past year and it's been passable, but this time round it slipped into the unacceptable. The deco is looking tired and the furniture is worse for wear including torn and dirty upholstery. The fish and chips was mediocre with...

we stayed at the Links from the 10th to 13 of March 2017. We had a double room on the first floor. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was also big. We had read reviews prior to booking and i must say we were not disappointed. The staff were friendly. we only ate breakfast as we were out...

We stayed at The Links Hotel last night, whilst in Edinburgh for the Jack Savoretti concert at the Usher Hall. Excellent value for money. We stayed in Room 102, on the first floor overlooking Bruntsfield links. A very spacious room with everything you could ask for. Certain aspects of the room were very plush and other areas were obviously requiring...

I picked this hotel for a family break as we are all bored of the premier inn :-[ the hotel is fab, lovely big rooms with big windows overlooking the park, clean, comfy beds .Previous reviews put this hotel 15/20 min walk to attractions however id say more like 30/40 mins maybe that's because we had children in tow but it...

We stayed here for three nights in February and we were pleased with our stay overall but we felt three stars was probably a fair reflection of this hotel. We paid €200 for three nights and considering this is close to the centre of Edinburgh we felt this was really good value. We travel to Edinburgh several times a year...

I stayed here for 2 nights, both with a friend and as a solo woman and had a great experience. A beautifully decorated hotel in a safe picturesque area by the meadows. Though i didn't come as 'a tourist' its a good location within easy access to all of the "places to visit" in Edinburgh approx 25mins in all directions....

Good location and great breakfast. Had the full Scottish, family and my partner had other things off the menu and enjoyed them all. Added bonus it had a pool table in the games room just off the bar. Nice decor and nice relaxing place to be. Looking forward to going again.

We went as a family of four, a week before Christmas 2016. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the family room (2 large double beds) a nice sitting area, lovely bathroom and all very well kept. Room service was quick and excellent. Very good food options for kids as well. The dinning areas are large so there is...

We picked the hotel because of its proximity to the home of friends we were visiting in Edinburgh. It's within walking distance of the center, although you might prefer taking the frequent buses if it's cold, rainy or windy (and mostly all three together). If you arrive on a cold & rainy evening, the facade can appear a little forbidding,...

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
