We stayed here for two nights with our teenage daughter in the family suite at the very top of the building (beautiful view). The building is magnificent and it feels like you have stepped back in time. Our room was a suite of two rooms plus a bathroom which was perfect for our needs. The bathroom was clean and stocked....

Florence's home truly has the 'wow' factor and was one of the highlights of our tour. Stepping through the doors of that beautiful Georgian townhouse on that imposing crescent really is like stepping back in time to a perfectly preserved mirror image of a glorious era gone by in Edinburgh. The building is vast in height and expect plenty of...

This was our first visit to Scotland. A Georgian Residence turned out to be the best decision. Mrs. Florence, the owner, was the most gracious and lovely host. The B&B was beautiful, clean and in a great location. She was very accommodating and took a genuine interest in her guest. I would recommend this B&B without reservation. The breakfast was...

I lived in the flats that you can see directly below the lounge windows when The Residence was being built (1990s) but it has taken me this long to return and try them out, albeit on a Sunday night deal.. It was just what I expected - a huge room (larger than my colleagues) with space for a sofa and...

I was a solo traveler here and I loved it. My room was at the top of the hotel and my view was wonderful. It is an old place with a wonderful proprietress. Ask here for the keys to the surrounding private gardens! They are beautiful!! Breakfast is served at one big table and I found everyone to be friendly...

What can I say about this b&b, well it's kinda like going back in time. The landlady Florence is a lovely old lady who takes care of you like your nan would . If you have seen the film" the lady killers" with Peter seller's you will know what I mean. We had the top floor suite which consists of...

We spent three days in Florence's house. The rooms were very clean and beautifully furnished. Florence has taking care of us by sharing great advices to discover Edinburgh. Breakfast was also really tasty and really scottish. Location is really nice and at walking distance of nearly every hot spots in Edinburgh. Nothing to add, just perfect.

Stayed in this B&B for one night as a family to look around the university of Edinburgh . Lovely and regal surroundings from the outset , very grand stair case and we were shown to two lovely bedrooms which were spotlessly clean . Florence is the host and she is very welcoming to her beautiful home . Very close to...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
