Stayed in this B&B for one night as a family to look around the university of Edinburgh . Lovely and regal surroundings from the outset , very grand stair case and we were shown to two lovely bedrooms which were spotlessly clean . Florence is the host and she is very welcoming to her beautiful home . Very close to...

Me and my partner stayed for 3 night weekend trip for my birthday in March 2016. It was all handled by my partner but we had a very nice stay here. Florence, the proprietor was , very charming helpful and friendly. When we first arrived we went to the wrong location as I must have entered the wrong post code....

Had to get accommodation in Edinburgh at the last minute for a family funeral. Called from the US, and Florence was most helpful. However, when I arrived, my booking had gone missing - NEVER MIND! She gave me the lovely suite for the same price for two nights. Her wonderful B & B is only a few doors down from...

My wife and I came to A Georgian Residence for my birthday due to its reasonable pricing and good reviews as well as its proximity to the centre of Edinburgh (5 mins walk from rose street). Breakfast included, huge room. Would come back in a heartbeat. Only thing I'd improve is a better shower. Host was fantastic and always friendly...

A delightful Georgian town house in the graceful Moray Place. This place is ideally placed for peace and quiet but is only a short stroll from all the entertainment, shopping and galleries that Edinburgh has to offer. Florence is an attentive and helpful host. Breakfast is excellent; cooked to order from an extensive menu and served around a large table...

Gorgeous place to stay. Florence is a lovely host, the breakfasts are good and its only a shirt walk into the city centre. The one draw back I had was the shower in our room clearly wasn't meant for anyone over 6ft tall. But I maintain... That was the only draw back!

I loved the location and the house, a typical Georgian house in a great area right between the New Town, Old Town, Dean Village and Stockbridge....basically everything was just one step away! Mrs Florence is a great host. Very helpful and friendly. I'm sure she will offer it herself, but if not, ask her the key for the private garden...

I booked a visit to this guest house back in June. I booked it based on the reviews. On arrival we were greeted to the owner peering from an upstairs balcony asking us to come up. We were handed our keys and shown to our room by her assistant. We were also shown where the dining room was, however that...

My fiancé & I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful guest house for a week during the fringe festival & what a pleasure it was. Beautiful house, fantastic location (10 mins walk to the main shops, 20 to Royal mile area) & a yummy hot breakfast cooked fresh to set us up for the day every morning. Florence...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
