I use hostels in Edinburgh regularly and have stayed at most of them at one time or another. The Belfort is one I try to avoid although by no means the worst I've experienced. For backpackers on foot it is quite far from town compared...More

Sorry you didn't enjoy our unique building, and ample common room and kitchen area. An exterminator was called out to investigate all rooms, and no trace of bed bugs have been found in the building. Had Reception been informed, we could have investigated immediately, and...More

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement

Hi there, We do have female only dorms, but the reservation in question was for a mixed dorm. This is clearly stated on the website. If they had requested a Female only room, this could have been avoided.
Room Tips
"Privates are in the basement, dorms are on the ground floor. Still the girl's shower is in the basement..."
