Stayed over night, rooms very clean and good standard. Breakfast fantastic great choice. Only one slight pro was the venue. Not great for disabled and you need to be of reasonable mobility to walk over the bridge to Princess Street . Otherwise perfect location. Would stay again.

We booked 2 nights at the Novotel, it was very reasonably priced. The girl on reception when we arrived was extremely pleasant. The rooms and large and well equipped: Large Smart TV, Iron, Hair Dryer, Ipod dock etc. The bathroom was great, had a bath and separate shower, and it was exceptionally clean. The pool and jacuzzi area was small...

My dad stayed here for a couple of nights whilst I stayed round the corner at the Doubletree in Bread Street. The main reason we had my wee lad with us and being 10 years old wanted to make use of a pool so my dad offered to stay in the Novotel to accommodate his grandson. As it turned out...

A nice hotel, an easy walk to the centre and the castle, but away from the bustle of Princes St. Good choice at breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended for a city break.

It does what it says on the tin but no more - I found the place impersonal - a typical corporate style hotel short on atmosphere. An 'open plan' accommodates reception, sitting and dining area - not relaxing. Food satisfactory and bedroom comfortable. Location is its selling point. Acid test: would I return yes, but only if I could not...

Its a real shame as the rest of the hotel wasnt that bad. The ladies on reception were superb and couldn't have been nicer, however after that it went downhill. Our room (345) was made up ready with the sofa bed out. This was clearly done without hoovering the carpet underneath as we witnessed the following morning when we put...

The room was ok, although the toilet was incredibly cramped, but my main issue with this hotel is the lack of information. They served food at 6pm every night...until Thursday, when without warning it was 7pm, so all the families came down ready to eat as usual and had to kick their heels for an hour. The pizza oven was...

Just got back from staying here for three nights and expected good things having stayed in other Novotel's across Europe. Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
