About twenty minutes walk to city centre, but two minutes to some shops and cafes. If you're getting a bus or train from the airport you can get off at Haymarket station, which is only three minutes walk from the hotel. The room we got was small, but perfect for a couple who didn't want to spend the day in...

We booked and paid for the 3 bedroom apartment at The Piries Hotel, many months in advance. On arrival, we were told the apartment was no longer available and we were given three separate rooms nowhere near each other. This meant our family was separated at Christmas time. The hotel knew in advance that the apartment was not available and...

Stayed for one night and apart of slowly draining sink and some mold on the bathroom ceiling everything else was good. Room was warm and clean. Bed comfortable . Staff was really helpful and welcoming. The Haymarket station is just across the road and an airport shuttle bus stops just couple mins walk from the hotel.

I'm very impressed with the room I've got. It's large, warm, and comfortable. The only let down was the cleanliness of the room/bathroom. Even without my glasses, I could see lots of black mound on the walls and shower. Also, there was a streak of (hopefully) dried shower gel in the shower which I would have expected housekeeping to have...

The hotel is conveniently located, walking distance to the center on the city. We had a junior suite and really liked the room - it was huge! The bathroom was big too. In the room we had a mini fridge which was great for storing some food that we bought. Shower floor around the corners a bit moldy and there...

Stayed here as part of "Superbreak" which included first class rail travel. Due to boiler problems we were put in the emergency rooms 2 doors down .Top floor room offered with no en suite and hole in carpet declined . Settled on smaller ground floor room which was OK except for narrow shower , complimentary drink and free breakfasts helped...

We stayed here for easy access to Edinburgh xmas markets, check in was 3pm which I though was rather late? Got to the hotel and was advised we had to pay a £20 deposit for booking with super break, which we would be refunded with straight away the next day. When I asked he next day why we had to...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
