First time staying here. Great location for the city. Discounted car parking at the Q park opposite. Staff were very friendly.
Breakfast is very busy. Not a huge dining area. Food hot and plentiful.
I would definately stay here again.
I chose this hotel primarily for its location. It is halfway between Calton hill and the Scott monument with a 15 minute walk to the royal mile; it's also close to shopping and restaurants.
Rooms - matched the pictures of the booking website and were...More

I wouldn't give this place 1 star! Its awful! Walls in the room are paper thin and we could hear people breathing in the room beside. What made it worse was the room rate was £208 for a night! Albeit a late Nov night but...More
This hotel is in a great location, wasn’t blown away with our room though, we had a skip at our window and the staff were out there having ciggies so our curtains were closed most of the time. Also the breakfast hall was too small...More

Thank you very much for your recent review,

Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighbourhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicentre Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The
top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
