A rare Sunday lunch out preceded by cocktails in Le Monde. Fabulous decor, lovely comfy seating. The kind of place where you'd happily sit all day. Great cocktails, not cheap but worth it for the chilled out, luxury ambiance

Stayed for one night with my partner, most relaxing night I've had in ages. The room is beautifully decorated, warm and cosy and the bathroom... oh my god! The bath is to die for and that shower!!! Service is impeccable, honestly nothing I can point out. Had room service, the steaks were divine. Only thing I regret is not having...

We stayed in the Monaco room which faces George Street so on a Saturday night it was quite noisy between 12am and 3ish there is sound proofing and obviously this isn't an issue that is in the hotels control its the revellers outside. The hotel itself is in an extremely central location for the train station and this side of...

You can't beat the value that you get staying at this hotel. The decor is super hip and edgy. Located in the new town,it is a short walk (if you don't mind hills) to the Old City Center. The staff was super helpful from start to finish, and always very pleasant. The decor of the rooms is playful and interesting...

Overnight stay in 'Cairo' - wow! Absolutely stunning decor kept to unique and tasteful theme. Very comfortable with luxurious touches of cosy bathrobes, slippers and gorgeous spa goodies in the bathroom - the bathroom!! The huge bath and heated floor were definite highlights. Cleanliness and attention to detail is obvious. Considering being in such a desirable city centre location, had...

Stayed before in the Cairo room which is the same rate as this one, Cairo has better set up. I don't understand how you can be charged the same price for something less, So in our other room we had a massive double sized bath which was for 2 adults side by side. Tokyo is just a normal bath. Cairo...

Stayed for one night as solo traveller, very friendly staff. When checking-in I was informed the window blind was broken and was offered an alternative hotel with complimentary taxi but decided to stay. Room was very nice although a little tired in places. Comfy bed and great power shower; nice decor, good facilties all round and nice selection of magazines....

Went here just before Hogmanay for drinks. Service was excellent and drinks very good. A lot of tables had been pre booked so seating was at a premium. A very pleasant watering hole. But you may want to consider pre booking a table.

We spent Christmas Eve Christmas Day and Boxing Day night here in the New York suite. We arrived at 18.30 the room is beautiful however the flooring is a bit loose in places but still fabulous. The Scottish breakfast was outstanding as was Christmas dinner. My only disappointment was the receptionist on our check out demanding we leave our room...

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
