Although the Hotel is a little difficult to reach just now because of the tramworks, the welcome and service is well worth a moment's hassle. Edna and Filippo cannot be faulted for their care and attention....and banter! My colleague and I consider them friends and not just our 'hosts' for the duration. The tramworks do not disturb the guests unduly,...

I travelled to Edinburgh on Church business and was very satisfied with the comfort and amenities of the building. It is well situated with good transport links to the city centre. The food was good and I liked the large table and the conversation with other guests at breakfast. There were a few who had returned after previous visits which...

Edna, Forbes and Phillipo were really friendly and helpful, which was great as we had never been to Edinburgh before. The on site private parking was a hugh bonus as was Forbes meeting us at the door. We checked in and were shown to our...

Warm welcome. Lovely, funny, sunny and warmhearted people. We toured Scotland, started in Edinburgh at the Pillars House, we loved to come back after 14 days to end our holiday at the Pillars House, it felt like coming come. Ednas and Filippos humor is outstanding. Filippos breakfast is simply the best. We loved the place, the people, the city. The...

Stayed there with my partner and family for my 30th birthday for 4 nights. Really enjoyed my stay, nice and clean rooms, very warm welcome by Filippo and Edna. Really close to Leith harbour where there are some great restaurants, not so far from the city centre. Safe car-park.

We stayed for 3 nights for the Rugby Magic Weekend using two rooms and found it everything we could possibly want. We were worried about the location as we had "googled" it and seen the roadworks for the new tram system but this did not make any difference as we simply used the entrance from the car park which Edna...

Well, to make a long story short...I am a 42 year-old California girl who really wanted to check out Scotland, so I finally did in April of this year. 4 Days before leaving (by myself), I fell down some stairs and hairline-fractured my ankle, but I went anyway. Hobbling from plane to plane was interesting, and my foot/ankle/lower-leg was the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pillars house was originally built and owned by Crawford which were offices and a spirit store in the late 18th century. Most of the building still has a lot of its character left as you can see as you walk in through the main entrance. The courtyard where our free parking is situated was traditionally used as the delivery entrance where the horse and carts brought the whiskey from the highlands to be blended. ... more   less
