I've been several times to this hotel, it's definitely the best place in Edinburgh. A very nice victorian stile hotel, very clean and very comfortable. Staff members are always very nice, and the quality of breakfast is just awesome. If you go to Edinburgh , you should definitely go there, you won't regret it!!

George and his staff are some of the friendliest we have ever encountered. The hotel is so homely and warm - we loved our big ensuite room, immaculately clean!!! Great location - only 5 mins on a bus to city centre or a brisk 15 minute walk which we did a couple of times. Free wifi and George was always...

George met us at the door with a lovely warm welcome. We had booked room 6 but George offered to show us a couple of the other rooms so we had a choice. Room 2 looked absolutely gorgeous, so we settled on it. The house is beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout, room 2 is large with a lovely bay window...

Simply - a perfect place to stay. Clean, friendly, accomodating, great breakfast. The little touches - that means I have come back again and again - the first week, i asked for a mug - every week one is in my room. They noted I ironned my shirts Monday evening - so every week the iron and board are setting...

I love this place - I stay regularly, and it's always just right. I've stayed in most of the rooms now, and apart from the singles being a little compact, they are comfortable and well-equipped. You can park on the street (a big plus in Edinburgh), and either walk along the water of Leith walkway (a scenic and peaceful 25...

Very comfortable guesthouse. Rooms spotless, large and well appointed. Bed comfortable. Breakfast generous, tasty and well cooked. Friendly, helpful staff. Hotel is 200 metres back from main road (makes it quiet), easy reach of busses to town and 10 mins walk from Murrayfield Stadium.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at the Criagelachie! We got into Edinburgh at 10 am and someone was there to let us check-in. The rooms we stayed in were bright, clean, and very comfortable, and best of we had wonderful breakfasts. The only drawback is the location, its a bit outside the city, so the local bus...

We were a group of seven who visited Scotland in May 2008. We stayed the last day in Edimbourgh and we spent the night at Craigelachie Hotel. In this little hotel the atmosphere was unique, beautiful. The accommodation was perfect. The rooms was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. No word could explain the surprise the next morning at...

I had stayed here a couple of years ago with a friend and found it very cosy and welcoming during a very cold and wet December and both single rooms were very comfortable. This time I stayed three nights with my husband. We were warned the room (No 3) was a small double but it was still fine for us...

I originally booked this hotel based on the prices, its uniqueness, and the distance away from the city center. I find that smaller hotels outside the main city area are better, more friendlier, and just absolutely lovely. Location - I took the sleeper train from London and when it arrived it was 7am. I decided to walk to the hotel...

“The annex is great for seclusion and a little garden.”

“Single rooms are always hard to find in the UK, since they do not charge by the room, but per person...so that means that a single traveler gets a double at half price. George does have 1 single room. It's very tiny. But I am out all day anyway...and the location and his breakfasts and his hospitality make it fine!”

“This time we stayed in room 2, which is very large, looks out into the quiet avenue, and has a bathtub, which is unusual in B&Bs.”

“Ask for a room on the first floor (20 and something steps). The ones on the second are quite a task to climb after a long day sightseeing.”
