This hotel also has a restaurant and bar that is used by non-residents, and which maybe is a major part of the business. The hotel seemed to have few people staying when I was there. The room was comfortable and clean. The only drawback was that the floor was very creaky, as was the floor of the corridor outside. If...

We visited the restaurant known as wheelans bar. The menu albeit initially looks very good with plenty of choice for both meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The starters were greasy with water cress on the salad, I mean who eats that, the mains were very bland stodgy and covered in green stuff which we could assume was parsley. We told...

Over the years, we have visited the Gilvenbank on several occasions for family meals. This time, there were over twenty of us, with ages ranging from 5 to 76. The staff were very helpful, and the kids were entertained by the usual colouring sheet and crayons. The food is well priced (typical pub type food) with good portions. I had...

Although we dined early, a couple of items listed on menu were not available and we only found that out when we attempted to order which meant we had to start again. We had to ask what the soup was and got a funny look when we asked what the...

Room clean and tidy with plenty of space. Good shower. Booked a table for an evening meal at 6.00PM. Very busy already. Great service from friendly and efficient staff....

We stayed here in September for our nearby wedding , we had at least 10/15 others guests staying as well . The overall friendliness of the staff was what made this place , the actual hotel and grounds are ok and practicable , but what it doesn't have in landscape and splender it more than makes up for in attentiveness...

Was there today with friends. Arrived and was seated then given menus. Didn't take long for order to be taken for starter and main course. It didn't take long for starters and mains to arrive but forget about dessert was waiting 20 minutes as staff were only interested in new arrivals so no dessert. Had to leave as had appointments...
